Nicole Richie’s Disrespectful Memorial Day Party Invitation
Nicole Richie is feeling the heat over an email invitation sent out for a party she co-hosted Sunday night, attended by Mischa Barton.
In explanation, Richie’s rep said:
“This invitation was sent via email to her friends who understand that she was responding in a joking manner to the constant untruths printed about her in the media. Her reference to Memorial Day was in no way meant to offend anyone but was simply an expression of her distaste for the current situation.”
I find it appalling that the thing everyone seems to be up in arms over, is her reference to weight. Yes, it is tasteless, but obviously said tongue-in-cheek, in retaliation to the constant media attention about her weight (which is also appalling). The thing that bothers me the most is the disrespect to the men and women who have bravely fought for this country.
