This is an Apology??? Akon’s “Sorry” Song to Gwen Stefani

akon-stefani.jpg

I reported yesterday that I heard Akon‘s new “Sorry” song on the radio and as best I could tell it didn’t sound like much of an apology to me. Today Hollyscoop posted the song so I took the liberty of deciphering the lyrics so you can decide for yourself.

The first part of the song sounds sincere:

As life goes on, I’m startin to learn more and more about responsibility

And I realize that everything I do is affecting the people around me

So I wanted to take this time out to apologize for the things that I’ve done, and for the things that haven’t occurred yet, and the things that they don’t want to take responsibility for

Akon then goes on to apologize to his girl and for not being there for his sons. He apologizes to his mother for his father’s behavior and for adding to her grief.

Then his apology to Gwen Stefani begins:

Sorry that it took so long to see

That they were dead wrong to try to put it on me

Sorry that it to so long to speak

But I was on tour with Gwen Stefani

I’m sorry for the hand that she was dealt

For the embarrassment that she felt

Just a little young girl tryin to have fun

Her daddy shoulda never let her out that young

I’m sorry for club scene gettin shut down

I hope they manage better next time around

How was I to know she was underage

In a 21 and older club they say

Why doesn’t anybody wanna take blame

Verizon backed out, disgracing my name

I’m just a singer tryin to entertain

Cause I love my fans I’ll take that blame

Even though the blame’s on you

Even though the blame’s on you

Even though the blame’s on you

I’ll take that blame from you

And you can put that blame on me…

So whadda ya think?

um..FYI he is NOT apologizing to Gwen in this song..why the hell would he need to apologize to her? or to anyone in that incident? This song is about his life, he apologizes to his brother, his mother and the mother of his child. At the end he apologises to the young girl on stage…not Gwen. He decided to take the blame from her, even though it isn’t fair..that is what the song is about. The only part Gwen came in was when he state what he was doing (touring with Gwen). Please listen and comprehend before you jump to conclusions!

Did you read the title of my post, or the post itself? Every major celebrity news outlet is claiming that this song was written as an apology to Gwen Stefani. I, like you, don’t see that anywhere in this song.

This song is not an apology to Gwen Stefani. It doesn’t make sense that you would think that simply because he has a line that states he was on tour with her.
