Sean Penn and Matt Damon to star in Harvey Milk movie
Gus Van Sant’s movie project about Harvey Milk, the openly gay politician of the 70’s who was elected and assisinated in office, now has two very talented box office stars attached to the project: Matt Damon and Sean Penn.
Penn is attached to play Milk and Damon is attached to play Milk’s killer, Dan White, in the director’s long-gestating Milk biopic.
This has been in the works for years and now there is finally some steam to get the ball rolling. He is in competition to complete the film before another version gets to the screen.
It’s the latest chapter in a long-running race to film the biopic of the first openly gay prominent elected official, which has pitted Van Sant’s project against another from fellow openly gay director Bryan Singer.
This is a great story that deserves to be made into a major motion picture with all the bells and whistles. Here’s hoping!
