Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter to do Another Tim Burton Movie…Yawn
Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are in Sweeney Todd, a new movie by Tim Burton. This seems like yet another excuse to produce a gray movie with two actors who love getting pale-faced and donning dark eye makeup. Why the monotony? Why keep making the same movie over and over? Oh wait, they sing in this one. So, that makes it okay. I’m just hoping for another Big Fish, that’s all.
Is it just me, or is Johnny Depp starting to look like Ichabod Crane in every movie he’s in which he’s not playing a gay pirate?
DROP A COMMENT BELOW

stop being nasty about johhny and that woman thts in the film with him. he is a great actor who can play many different roles that appeal to different people. hes also drop dead gorgeos and pulls off the make up. i hope there are many more tim burton films with johnny depp in, because i love them and so does eveyone else.
i hate it when people start contradicting people like johnny depp and helena bonham carter and tim burton for thier choices and how they dress because they aren’t like the other celebrities. they are just showing their individuality and creativity! johnny depp is THE BEST ACTOR OF THIS TIME. no other actor is capable of doing what he has done. helena bonham carter is just as outstanding as johnny and i think her outfits are cute and original. tim burton has extraordinary visionary and portrays everything with such excellence. don’t contradict someone for what they like or how they dress because they aren’t like everyone else. i guess it just goes to show that people can’t appreciate excellent talent. just remember that we can’t all be the same. if we were, the world would be boring.
Good grief, the comments are worse than the post.
Before I start, Johnny Depp is not the greatest actor of this time.
Anyway, Helena needs to be who she really is and stop tring to hard to be someone who she clearly is not. Her dire need for attention may be a mental problem.
Her singing was terrible, her range, her pitch. Mrs Lovett is a contralto role. She didnt get anywhere near it. Her acting is way too over the top. She needs to go to acting school and learn how to portray a realistic character.
-.- *throws sharp objects at you*
Helena Bonham Carter has a beautiful voice. I didn’t even know who she was before I saw Sweeney Todd, all I knew is that she was in Harry Potter. But I hadn’t really payed much attention. But I thought she was bloody brillent. For two people that DON’T sing, she did amazing. I even would go so far as to say that she could be a professional singer. And she is seriously, an amazing actress. I think it’s cool that Tim Burton sticks with some of the same people in his films. It gives him sort of a trademark. I think Johnny Depp is a bit overrated. But he’s still excellent in everything he does. And he plays such a wide array of charaters, that is no small accoplishment.
There’re brillent, and always will be, so get over it.
come on. Tim Burton is 1 of the most imaginary/amazing directors ever. johnny depp and helena bonham carter are awesome actors. sweeney todd was amazing. sure he uses the same people in his movies but i like that.
i mean imaginitive. not imaginary. haha
okay, johnny depp does not play a “gay pirate”, why criticize a very talented actor just because you think what you wrote? how would you like it if someone didi that to you?!
Excuse me…
Johnny depp is one of the greatest actors of this time…
plus the fact that he’s amazingly gorgeous…
AND…..Jack sparrow is clearly not gay…hence the 2 women who smacked him across the face for cheating on them…
hi!!!! just say somthing johnny and helena are the most greeat actors.they have a beutifall work and my favorite actors are hem johnny and helena and plese dont say anything bad to ims…….
Ummm…Gray movies? wishing to have another Big Fish? …I think what you were asking for was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? It’s got Johnny and brightly colored…okay? Johnny Depp is one of the greatest actors of our time. If he can go from edward scissorhands to george jung to willy wonka and soooo many more different roles and be successful at all of those then yeah he’s an amazing actor and should be highly praised for it.
uhm. well. first off. helena bonham carter is different than anyone else. just like johnny depp and tim burton. it is soooooo cool how they are different. nobody wants boring actors. but anyways, that is no reason to say alllllllll his movies are gray. that’s just the characters he plays. HE IS 100 PERCENT NOT A GAY PIRATE, EITHER. he has girls in the movie slap that him. he’s NOT gay. he is an amazing actor. he has great talent. tim burton is a great director. helena bonham carter is a pretty good actress. i have seen her in a few movies. and by the way. johnny depp is not always gray. apparently, you have not seen him in most of his movies. maybe you should watch…’what’s eating gilbert grape?’ or ‘willy wonka and the chocolate factory’ or ‘nick of time’ or some of his upcoming movies like…’public enemies’ ?!?!? like seriously. that is such a pathetic comment. i can’t believe you would say that. and why make another ‘big fish’ ? you were just complaining how he makes the same movies over and over again… [[ which he DOESN'T ! ]] all his movies are different. maybe you should go see some of them. AND THEN START COMMENTING ON THEM. you are talking about like only a few of his movies. and it just happens that all those ‘gray’ movies are amazing. maybe because johnny depp is amazing at his job and at life. thank you… and good bye!
i mean ‘charlie and the chocolate factory’. ahahahaha.
Ms. Jebbica, u r wrong… Even if Johnny & Helen were to play in another movie w/ such characteristics… @ least they can act such roles as though they haven’t played that role b-4… So as a true fan of their works I strongly disagree with your statement…
& truely believe that u r not… or else u wouldn’t say dat
i don’t like some of these people. they are saying he isn’t the greatest actor? OF COURSE HE IS!!!! stop it. you sound dumb by saying he isn’t. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR ALICE IN WONDERLAND, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Public Enemies, The Rum Diary, and a movie by Gore Verbinski, which is an Animated Project without a title yet. SO EXCITED!
P.S. if you wanna talk about him… you shall see me again. and i will be yelling at you! :p bc he does not deserve to be commented badly on.
THANKS!
okay first of all, no one should ever, EVER say that depp was a ‘gay pirate’. the pirates of the caribbean series is the greatest of all time! johnny depp is by far the greatest actor in show biz today. sweeny todd was also an amazing movie! i thought it was great that johnny was taking on a new challege by starring in a musical. fact: he started out as a musician before becoming and actor. and him being in another tim burton movie would be amazing!-he’s been in almost all of them anyway, and has done excellent in them all! why break tradition?
so instead of dissing the greatest actor of all time-maybe you should get you step and check what movie your watching b/c you must be blind!
You are so ignorant. If they are such “boring actors” then how come you’ve see Tim Burtons films with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter? Tim Burton is an amazing producer and they are amazing actors. If they are so gray and dull then how come so many people love them and they are out there being asked to playing leading roles in films? Im sure you could do much better.. rightttt. hahaha
You’re an ass! At least Johnny’s not afraid to do something different. I get tired of the same old stuff over and over, the hero, the love interest (usually blonde with large breast), sex, death, and then the credits. Just your kind of movie, huh? I bet you probably found Borat entertaining. There are many different genres of movies, and this just happens to be Johnny’s. Oh and by the way, there’s a huge difference between being gay and being drunk. Even more difference between a serial killer barber and punk ass Ichabod Crane….. You seem to have seen his movies a lot to say such things, if there is a problem stop watching them. I’d love yo see you deliver the way he does in any one of his films. Get off your soap box…JACKASS!!!!
Im Not being funny,
but who the hell cares?
they are who they are. leave them alone.
I am with all the other people on this one! I love Johnny Depp to death and it makes me very very angry for some low-life jerk to dish it out on him! What does this person know about Johnny Depp anyway? Jack Sparrow is not a gay pirate either!!! He is hilarious! I think that whoever wrote this article or whatever is just jealous that he is not as handsome, talented, rich, and famous as Johnny is. You know what, whoever wrote this article, I think you need to get a life and grow up!!!!!!!!!! >:(
I also love Helena and think that she is a very good actress and singer like Holly said. She is way better than you, Ms.Jebbica!!! Don’t write or say anything mean about either one of them!!!! Holly, if you read this, I fell the same way as you do!!!
Oh yeah, and I think that Johnny is a professional at everything he does in a movie!!! He is one of the greatest actors of our time and I look forward to seeing more of him in later years!
“gay pirate” made me smirk, though, it’s obvious to most that he’s not gay- the damn womanizer, was my first thought in regards to Captain Jack Sparrow and sexual preference.
As for Sweeney Todd; it gets a bad rap (as not-the-most-talented singers sung a written-for-fantastic-singers script), but I can’t help but love it. I don’t mind the pale faces and dark makeup- and if there’s anyone to stick up for, if I’m to do anything, it’s Tim Burton. Please, dear God, don’t insult that man; he’s got the mind of his oddity, laced with a dose of whimsical artistry- to each his own, of course, but Burton’s talented regardless.
My personal opinion: Burton is actually interesting. Helena’s voice was weak, but passable. Depp is a nice “third” to the married couple. They’re all dark and odd and compelling… AND HOLY CRAP, I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT TIM BURTON’S ALICE IN WONDERLAND.
Lewis, I’m convinced, was high when he imagined his book; it’s so wild and ridiculous and intriguing- absolutely perfect in the hands of Tim Burton, with Johnny as the Mad Hatter, Rickman the opium-smoking catepillar, and Stephen Fry the Cheshire cat! Oh, I can’t wait! [dances]
cheers
Well, I can’t say that Johnny and Helena are the “BEST ACTOR AND ACTRESS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!” because I’m not a fangirl like that. I can’t say that Johnny is “drop-dead gorgeous” because he’s much older than I am, and I can’t say that Helena was perfect as Mrs. Lovett because I prefer Angela Lansbury in that particular role. I also, however, disagree that Tim Burton makes the same movies over and over, because you get things like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, then you look at Beetlejuice, and then you turn around and see Batman or Sweeney Todd. True, they all have a bit of Tim Burton in them, but that’s what makes a good director– the movies all have a bit of autobiography because he bases his elements off of what he saw growing up. I think Johnny is a great actor- don’t act like Captain Jack Sparrow was his only role. Gilbert Grape, Sam of Benny & Joon, Sweeney Todd, Willy Wonka… they’re not all dark and grim. As for Helena, I’m glad that she gets to be slightly deranged and witch-like. Her first movies, while all great, were all the same merchant-ivory style and she always played and English Rose, Corset Queen, et cetera… similar to Johnny Depp, who was once known as “TV Boy” or “Teenage Heartthrob.” They’re both very talented, and I admire them both, particularly Helena, who’s probably my greatest inspiration and role model, not only for her eccentricity but for her personality, her choices, her range of character. I quite like the Tim/Johnny/Helena trio, and if they suddenly stopped working together, I would actually be very upset, as if I was losing a pet or something. Their charisma together is wonderful, and I don’t see why everybody hates on them just because they’re a little different; the fact that they’re differet is part of what draws me to them.
And to an above commenter… her voice was different from original Mrs. Lovett, true, but you have to remember: Tim Burton was making a MOVIE. If Helena was on stage, it would not be good, because her singing voice used for Sweeney Todd does not have the projection to make it on stage. For the movie and the character choices of that VERSION of Mrs. Lovett, she has a nice voice. The same thing goes for Johnny: he’s no George Hearn or Len Carou, but he was good for the movie. Tim’s vision of Sweeney was probably a bit different than Stephen Sondheim’s original perception of it, but seeing as Sondheim approved Johnny, Helena, and the movie altogether, I really think that it should be left at that. It’s not a question of which is better: the movie or the Broadway; Broadway simply will never be able to be translated to the big screen.
I am so over seeing Johnny Deep and Ugly Bonham Carter!! Wish Tim Burton wasn’t sleeping with the both of them, then maybe he would cast other people, who can act and look different than the rest of his movies from the 1990′s.
NOT GONNA SEE IT!!! save the cash read the book.
I think people just like to talk crap because they don’t have the talent that Jonny, Tim or Helena have. OH and Johnny was actually in a band when he was younger and this is so not the first musical he’s done. Ever heard of Cry Baby. Okay its a terrible movie, but I love it. That movie made me fall in love with Johnny. Helena is good in everything I’ve seen her in and I’m a huge Tim Burton fan and Harry Potter fan so I’ve seen a butt load of her films. I think she transforms herself in each one.
“Is it just me, or is Johnny Depp starting to look like Ichabod Crane in every movie heâs in which heâs not playing a gay pirate?”
By looking like Ichabod Crane, the only characters I’ve seen that resembles him at all is the inspector on From Hell. And that’s because they are all in the victorian era (or whatever era they are in) Even if they are alike, what’s the problem? Johnny Depp still manage to make them completely different (different personality, different accent, different voice..etc) so I see no problem in that. You get famous actor that looks exactly the same in every single movie and you are complaining about Johnny Depp, probably the best actor on portraiting character with the highest variations?
And HBC, she’s awesome. I never seen anyone like her, so I don’t know who’s she trying to be without anyone to actually influrence her. She’s great actor, awesome singer. She managed all those really difficult songs that requires skill which she clearly got.
And Tim Burton, he’s one hell of a good director. A genius, I can call him that.
So get a life and stop whining.
I have to say that I believe Johnny to be one of the most talented actors of our time period. He can play parts that no other actor could even think of pulling off and making halfway interesting. Helena is not the best singer, but for pete’s sake she was playing the part of a psycho nutcase with a severe case of lust going on. If she had the voice of an angel you’d be complaining that the voice didn’t fit the character. I loved Patti LuPone as Lovett, she had the big voice needed to bring the character to the stage, but Helena did a great job for the film. I just saw the Alice in Wonderland movie and it was fun to watch. I’m sick of all the love stories and action flicks that are all just remakes of each other. Boy and girl meet, fall in love, one does something stupid and the other leaves, they get back together and… *sigh* happy ever after. Or, nothing stupid happens, but some stuff blows up, guns go off, guy loses shirt (I usually manage to enjoy that part.) guy saves girl, the world is right again. Tim has imagination, his movies are fun and whimsical, something you don’t get much anymore. These people actually ENJOY what they do, and they do it well.
Also… “gay pirate.” If you are going to write something, at least write it out of feelings other than jealousy or spite, which is how this article comes across. No disrespect, but being different doesn’t make a person gay and that seems to be your only motivation for calling him such. Just an opinion.
Just to let everyone know the reason Helena Bonham Carter is in all of Tim Burtons movies is because she is his wife, and that’s just her good roles, dark. everyone has their specialty…..you don’t criticize Reese Witherspoon for playing a dumb blonde in Legally Blonde…but she’s blonde and fits the part. Johnny Depp has been playing a variety of roles all his life. Maybe you should look at every movie he’s done not just two or three. Of course all of his roles for Tim Burtons movies are the same. That’s Tim Burtons choice of genre.
well i love pirate of the caribean and sweeny toad. jonny deep is hot and hellana is a realy good singer and actriss. so ya.
