Ellen DeGeneres Continues to Film During Writer’s Strike

Ellen

Unlike Leno and Letterman, Ellen is continuing to film during the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild.

The comedienne defended her decision on air yesterday, to everyone’s apparent dismay.

“I want to say I love my writers. I love them. In honor of them today, I’m not going to do a monologue,” she’s quoted as saying. “[But] people have traveled across the country. They’ve made plans. They’re here. I want to do everything I can to make your trip enjoyable and give you a show.”

She’s getting a bad rap for this, but she seems like she’s trying to do the right thing.  I know if I’d traveled all the way to California to see Ellen and found out it was cancelled, I’d be pretty pissed!  She’s just thinking about who really signs her paycheck, the fans.  And while I’m sure they’d like to see her witty monologue and crazy dance moves, at least a little bit of Ellen is better than no Ellen at all.
