Reruns Coming Soon To A Television Near You
Currently picketing and without a contract, the Writer’s Guild Strike will begin having an impact on the viewing public very shortly. NBC’s hit show, The Office, is now out of new shows and many aren’t far behind. Heroes, Pushing Daisies, Grey’s Anatomy, and Desperate Housewives all have 3 new show left before forcing reruns if the two sides do not settle. Most shows land in the 4 or 5 range of new material that has been filmed, but it takes about a month to turn an script into a viewable show, so even if it were settled today, most shows would have big gaps until January/Februray.
Many television stars have signed contracts to film on their hiatus from tv, so this strike could be farther reaching than many anticipated.
