Athina Onassis: Poor Little Rich Girl Grows Up
The greek shipping empire built by the Onassis family has only one heir to the $2 billion fortune; Athina Onassis. The Onassis clan made headlines in the 70s and 80s when through scandals of suicides, eating disorders and other assorted tragedies, Athina was left without her mother, Christina Onassis, and eventually went to live with her father, Theirry Roussel, his mistress (who he later married) and their children.
Athina’s mother Christina lost three family members in a 2-year period, when her brother Alexander died in a plane crash in 1973, her mother Tina (full name Athina) committed suicide a year later, and Aristotle Onassis, passed away at age 67, in 1975 due to heath problems and a broken heart from his only son’s death.
Homely Christina battled self-image and acceptance problems, her entire life. Did people like her only for her money? If she starved herself, would she be more attractive to to opposite sex?
She made a deal with the devil when she married Roussel in 1984, agreeing to support his Swedish model mistress Marianne “Gaby” Landhage at a separate residence during their marriage.
No stranger to scandal, Athina recently married Brazilian equestrian ‘Doda’ de Miranda who was 34 at the time they met and already married. Her father and family refused to attend the wedding. Our friends at Celebrity Babylon have the whole story and time line laid out for you in all it’s scandalous infamy.
