Hugh Laurie: Unhappy in London and Los Angeles

Hugh Laurie and wife Jo

Actor Hugh Laurie seems to be taking his character on House, M.D. a little too close to heart. The British thespian has expressed his lonliness at being in Los Angeles and away from his wife and three kids, but now he’s photographed looking just as uneasy in London with them.

In recent months he has cut a forlorn figure, separated from his family by his huge success in Los Angeles, where he is reported to earn Ł150,000 an episode. He has often complained about the tough filming schedule.

An onlooker who saw him on the Heath said: “You would have thought he would have been happier to be back in the UK. It was surprising to see him looking just as down as he does on his own in LA.”

Hopefully some time with his family will help him feel less grumpy. With no real end in sight to the writer’s strike, he may have a long time to get happy again.

Maybe if the photographers left him alone, he would be happier???
Let him have some privacy and he will be fine.
    Just leave him alone!

    WE LOVE YOU, HUGH!!!

“House” has just become another soap opera. I used to look forward to
each episode but not any more.

Hugh Laurie, a great actor, a very talented man.

For the Americans who have not seen Blackadder or Jeeves & Wooster, you have a treat in store.

There have been other great British thesps who were brilliant on stage, Hitchcock & Sellers to name two, who were manic depressives off stage. Perhaps there is something in the exchange & giving of characters on stage and the covering up of one’s own which perhaps doesn’t get enough airing, that could be the reason for their cheerlessness and sad demeanour; it’s a shrink’s domain I guess.

A mate of mine Charlie Everett said he knew him at school; said he was a good guy…

Hugh Laurie is a fantastic and talented man. I have been totally captured by his “Gregory House” character and his versatility. So what if he isn’t always smiling. Do we always smile every second of every day? Nobody really can understand what is going on inside a person by photos. I also agree with the person who said that maybe part of his demeanor in pictures is because the papparazzi won’t let him alone.

Personally, I feel Hugh Laurie is a very deep thinker – like many exceptionally talented celebrities, and should be able to walk down the street without people trying to make a big deal out of his posture. And I really don’t care if his wife is old, young, attractive or unattractive. I think of her in very good terms and would love to met her some day. I am sure she is a very nice person – as I have no reason to feel otherwise which would be pure speculation.

Hugh, I hope you stay in the United States forever. You have brought my husband and I closer together because as much as he dislikes Television – we never miss House and watch it together every week – repeats et al – and there is no one who has been able to bring him to the TV but you. You make us laugh so hard and you take the words of the writers and bring them to life. I hope that you can stay forever in this Country, and participate in the Arts in theatre, television, movies or whatever your little heart desires you to do – because you are the best in my opinion.

And if you have a bad day and choose to look sad – so be it!!! It’s called being Normal and no one should make a big deal out of it. If you have problems with “going the distance” from England to the US, people should certainly understand the problems associated with it. But speculation in anyone’s part – is what it is!!! I think everyone should leave your personal life alone. You are a “big boy” and can deal with life as we all do.

Blessings to you from a forever fan!

I choose to think that Hugh Laurie, just like everyone, has good days and bad days and can’t always be photographed like a picture postcard. It’s got to be hard running from one Country to another. Maybe he is just “tired”. That would be a little tiring to most of us. We also should not judge what his wife looks like. His personal choices should be left personal and I, for one, think she is just fine the way she is. Hugh Laurie is a very deep thinker and a true artist. It should not be up to us to make assumptions based on pure speculation as to what he looks like in a photo. He is the consumate professional and I hope he stays in the US forever. He can work on stage, television, movies and he will always be great. My husband and I love to watch him play Dr. Gregory House and we just laugh so hard sometimes because he brings the script to life. I wish he would have won Best Actor again this year but he definitely is still the best to us. Stay here for us Hugh and move your wife here. You can live with my husband and me – and I will keep your wife company while you work! Is that a deal?
