Celebrities To Tom Cruise’s Defense
Mega-watt star Tom Cruise has been riding a wave of backlash that has no sign of cresting in the near future. This is the complete opposite to years past when Cruise could do no wrong. With the tell-all biography out by Andrew Morton, the leaked Scientology promotional video, the whirlwind romance with Katie Holmes and quick family there after; Cruise has taken a number of jabs to the chin and now his famous friends, like Dustin Hoffman, Adam Sandler and Ben Stillerare publicly defending him.
Click comedian Sandler says, “To see anyone’s private life invaded and mocked like this is sickening.
“It’s especially gross when it happens to a guy like Cruise, who’s a great dad, a great husband and a great friend.”
Meanwhile, legendary actor Hoffman - who starred opposite Cruise in Oscar-winning movie Rain Man- believes the 45-year-old has every right to express opinions about his religion.
He says, “Tom Cruise is an American and has the right to freedom of speech and freedom of religion.”
What Hoffman says is true. But EVERYONE has the right to their opinion, so the criticism might sting but he needs to deal with it. I think it’s difficult for insulated celebrities to get it into their heads that yes, they can have opinions and religions and whatever other ideologies they want. Just don’t expect everyone to agree with it. And, ya gotta admit, Cruise is his own worst enemy. Belief is one thing, coming across as a zealot is another.
