In conclusion, Herbie Hancock surpised everyone by winning album of the year, but Amy Winehouse was the big winner of the 2008 Grammys (are we surprised?). Congratulations! She’s been looking a lot better lately…now get your butt back to rehab, woman!

Album of the Year winner: River: The Joni Letters–Herbie Hancock

11:24 p.m.: will.i.am performs a song about the 50th Grammy anniversary.

11:13: Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and John Fogerty perform together.

Other Grammy Lifetime Achievement recipients: Doris Day, Itzhak Perlman, and Max Roach.

11:03 p.m.: Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban perform in honor of Luciano Pavarotti.

Record of the Year winner: “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse

10:41 p.m.: Finally, Amy Winehouse performs! She did a shoutout to Blake, but overall her performance was great and trainwreck-free!

Best Rap Song Collaboration winner: “Umbrella” by Rihanna featuring Jay-Z

10:25 p.m.: Herbie Hancock performs.

Best Country Album winner: These DaysVince Gill

10:10 p.m.: Alicia Keys performs with John Mayer.

Best Rock Album winner: Echoes, Silence, Patience and GraceFoo Fighters

9:55 p.m.: Feist performs. xoxo Keely Smith performs with Kid Rock.

Earl Scruggs named Grammy Lifetime Achievement recipient.

8:51 p.m.: Fergie performs with John Legend on piano.

8:44 p.m.: Kanye West performs with Daft Punk. It kicked butt. Seriously! Then Kanye sang a song for his mom. :-(

Best New Artist Winner: Amy Winehouse

8:16 p.m.: The Time perform with Rihanna. Tom Hanks presents The Band as Lifetime Achievement Award recipients. Cirque du Soleil and Across the Universe cast perform a tribute to The Beatles.

Best R&B Female Performance Winner: No OneAlicia Keys

8:00 p.m.: Alicia Keys does a duet with a video of the late Frank Sinatra. Carrie Underwood performs “Before He Cheats.”

    i used to love the grammy awards some 3 years ago..where did it all go wrong..check out this clip where a lady comedian( rare in itself) rips a new one for the whole grammy industry and for fergie’s underwear…
