In the February 25th issue of People Magazine, actor Ron Lester, best known for playing Billy Bob in Varsity Blues, talks about what it was like losing 315 lbs.  The last straw for him was in December of 2000 when he was unable to fit into a limosine, at 508 lbs.  “I just broke down and started crying,” says Lester.

Today, he has survived gastric bypass surgery and 17 plastic surgeries to remove the extra skin.  He’s two inches shorter from the fat lost at the top of his head and bottom of his feet!  He is looking and feeling healthy and great now, but that has proven to take a toil on his acting career.

Before, he was cast as the “funny fat guy.”  “Jobs would come down to me and maybe two other guys,” says Lester.  Now he says, “I’m going out for the guy-next-door roles–and I’m one of 500,000 lookalikes!”

Check out my bad homemade scans from his interview in People below…the photo of him and his girlfriend standing together in one of his old pairs of jeans is so cute!

Ron Lester’s issue of People is on stands now.
