Vanessa Hudgens NOT Arrested for Underage Drinking; CosmoGIRL in Hot Water Thanks to BSC

Cosmo Girl Vanessa Hudgens

First of all, I just wanted to say, that this site is built on celebrity hearsay, rumors, and gossip. And while a lot of the stuff written on this site IS true, a lot of it is just speculation and meant to entertain. It is not the Gospel. It’s just meant to be taken with a grain of salt!

The above photo is a screenshot from CosmoGIRL, who cited a story I wrote the other day about Vanessa Hudgens getting arrested for a DUI. Well, if CosmoGIRL got it from me, you should know where I got it. I found the story on Anything Hollywood, who saw it on WhyFame, who got it from a member on Dotspotter, who got it from nobody. So there you go, the chain of where crazy rumors like this come from!

Portable Planet wrote a story on CosmoGIRL yanking the story from their website:

The irony is that their source for their story, Back Seat Cuddler (which had sourced the website WHYfame, which in turn had sourced…nobody), reported that the supposed arrest took place on Sunday in Los Angeles. However, there are multiple reports with photographic evidence that she was actually in Texas on Sunday filming the movie Will. It’s mighty hard to get arrested for possession of alcohol by a minor in California when you’re not even in the state.

Today, the story has been completely scrubbed from the CosmoGIRL website. When one tries to access the original story at www.cosmogirl.com/vanessa-hudgens-gets-arrested, the site redirects to the main page.

While it’s understandable that the website has now taken the unconfirmed story down, it’s simply not enough. We believe that they should restore the page with a correction explaining that the story was not accurate, and an apology would appropriate as well. Simply making believe that the story was never posted on the website just doesn’t cut it.

We took a screenshot of the cached page before it was yanked so there won’t be any “misunderstandings” later on; check it out here.

If this were the New York Times, I would certainly apologize for reporting on this story. But, for one thing: this isn’t the New York Times, and that sort of thing would never fly. For one, I’m pretty sure they have fact checkers. You’d think that the people at CosmoGIRL would have fact checkers, too. I mean, how bad can I feel for them? They didn’t even get our name right! But, like I said, this is a gossip blog. You take what you read and make your own opinions about it. And you heard that one straight from the source!

*Update:  My apologies to the people who read this as fact and to CosmoGIRL for what they went through regarding my post.  Also, I apologize for being in a bad mood on the day of this posting and for taking it out on CG.  They did nothing wrong!  We were both guilty of publishing rumors from sources that turned out to be not credible.  Backseat Cuddler prides itself in being as credible as possible, or as credible as one can be when it comes to publishing news based on rumors and gossip.  Apologies also to Miss Hudgens.  Hopefully this had no effect on you and you took comfort in knowing what’s true and what isn’t!  If this has brought any stress on you personally I sincerely apologize.

Well i think the call for apology was more for Cosmogirl. They’re more than a blog and really should have been more careful. Well idiots will be idiots.

Continue to blog your gossip and rumours
And apologize to those who suffer severe ill-humours
Because at the end of the day only time will tell
If you have done your job and written well
Because someone somewhere will be mad as hell
