Prince Harry Frustrated at Charity’s Output

Prince Harry in Lesotho for his charity Sentebale

With his time on the front lines of the British Army currently on hold, Prince Harry is spending time looking into the charity he formed almost 2 years ago, Sentebale, in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana. He is said to be frustrated that the organization is spending most of it’s money on organizational issues rather than grassroots programs to help the children orphaned in Lesotho.

Britain’s Prince Harry is reportedly “bitterly disappointed” that his charity has only given Ł84,000 of the Ł1.15 million it has raised to AIDS orphans.

The prince is said to be deeply unhappy with reports Sentebale, which the prince set up to help children in AIDS-ravaged African country Lesotho, has so far spent more money on staff costs than on kids who have lost parents to the deadly illness.

However, a spokesperson for Harry’s royal London residence Clarence House claims the prince understands why much of the money is yet to be used.

They insisted: “Prince Harry is not angered by Sentebale’s performance. He understands the importance of establishing its office on the ground in Lesotho.

“It has begun to fulfil his vision of supporting small, community-based projects and by the end of August it will have spent Ł225,000 directly on such projects. The last thing he wanted was for Sentebale to distribute funds without checking they were going to the right projects.”

The charity still reportedly has Ł600,000 still sitting unused in a bank account.

Now that he has the opportunity to see to more of the specifics, I hope he can sort out the issues. It must take a long time and a lot of money to start a charity from the ground up so hopefully it will begin to produce the results everyone is hoping for shortly.

Sentebale means ‘forget me not’ and was founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho to help the country’s HIV/AIDS ravaged families. Read about Sentebale here.
