‘The X-Files’ Movie Info From Chris Carter

X-Files David Duchovney and Gillian Anderson

The summer sequel 10 years in the making, ‘The X-Files’ part 2 (no official title yet,) is set to hit theaters July 25th 2008. With the original cast and writers on board, everyone is hoping for a great storyline to continue where the series and first movie left off.

“While this is not a mythology movie, it’s true to everything that’s come before,” [writer Frank] Spotnitz said at the William S. Paley Television Festival. “It’s true to Mulder and Scully, who they are and where they would be this point in their lives and all of the experiences that they’ve had.”

Chris Carter, series creator, and Fox studios are in disagreement about the name of the movie but he did give a bit more info to plotline.

Carter, who also directs the new movie, said it takes place in the present and uses a story envisioned when the series ended. While the show’s sprawling alien mythology isn’t part of the plot, Carter said there is a reference to Scully’s seemingly supernatural son, William, who was born in season eight and later given up for adoption.

I can’t wait for this movie. I love ‘The X-Files’ and miss Agents Mulder and Scully and the crew on sunday night. I’m very glad that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are back and hope that this is as good as the first film.
