Robocop Redux! With Darren Aronofsky?

Darren Aronofsky, director of Requiem for a Dream and Pi, is in talks with MGM to direct a Robocop remake. The director seems like a pretty good choice, even though The Fountain, Aronofsky‘s last film, was pretty terrible. His style seems well suited to a reboot of the franchise.

But, why? Has hollywood really run out of ideas? Why must the studios constantly remake everything? The film industry is only a little over 100 years old, and we’re already recycling, what’s it going to be like in another 50 years? Sad, very sad. But alas, if they do make a new Robocop film, I’ll probably have to see it (sigh). Check out the teaser poster.

C’mon, seriously?
