SAG Did Not Reject the Offer!
Last night SAG made it clear that they did not reject the AMPTP’s ‘last offer’. Although it was reported as such. They merely gave a counter proposal. SAG notified it’s members last night of the current state of things:
Dear Screen Actors Guild Member,
The Screen Actors Guild national negotiating committee met behind closed doors throughout the day today discussing bargaining strategies. The negotiations team remains committed to continuing to bargain for a fair contract.
Your national negotiating committee did not reject the AMPTP’s recent offer out-of-hand. Instead, the committee made a comprehensive counter proposal that adopted some of the AMPTP’s proposals and offered alternatives on others. The committee’s counter-offer significantly narrowed the gap between the two parties while remaining committed to the principles of SAG’s bargaining priorities.
We will provide an additional negotiations update on Monday.
So there is still hope! Maybe we’ll get some good news on monday. The producers are greedy, the fact is that SAG has not moved towards a strike, on the contrary, they want to avoid that. The big CEO’s are the ones refusing to return to normal production. This all needs to end, give the actors what they want! We need them! Don’t we?
