Is Tom Cruise Starring In A Sequel To Top Gun?
I’ve watched Top Gun probably a million times in my lifetime. That movie changed my way of thinking…I wanted to be a pilot…and that hasn’t changed even after that long! So, do they think they could make another Top Gun movie that can even compare to that one?
They sure think so, Tom Cruise is reportedly considering being in the Top Gun sequel.
A source said: “The idea is to pick up the story of Maverick 20 years after the first movie. He is still at Top Gun school as an instructor but this time the roles are reversed and it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.”
There has been success lately in sequels to old movies like Indiana Jones and Rocky. So, why hasn’t it been finalized? They won’t go ahead without knowing they have Tom on board. It wouldn’t work without him, who would believe it’s Maverick, not me.

I doubt this is true and if it is then I doubt it will ever happen for the same reasons it did happen when it was concidered a few years after Top Gun was released .
1 They used all of the workable footage they had so they would have to get the Navy on board again too and that is a major headache.
2 Like you said Tom would have to be on board and it is not a given he would want to do it.
There is also a new concideration.
3 If he was willing, his price might be more then the studio would want to or could pay .
The 1 million they got him for then seemed a fortune then but would be a big bargain now.
