Rose McGowan is ‘Red Sonja’

Robert Rodriguez is producing the remake of the 1985 film Red Sonja. This time instead of Brigitte Nielsen, It’s Rose McGowan. And instead of 1980s camp, it will be based on the comic book (surprise, surprise).  Red Sonja is about a young girl risen from the ashes of tragedy to become the most feared woman warrior of all time as she seeks vengeance on those who destroyed her family. The film will be directed by Douglas Aarniokoski, (Highlander: Endgame) . It starts shooting this October, and is set for release next year. How about these posters?!

How funny considering RM destroyed RR’s marriage/family. ;) Seriously. I have a hard time seeing her as Red Sonja. She is lilliputian. Brigitte Neilson had the statuesque quality and presence to carry off the role which seems to be based on the story of the flame haired Briton Bouddica (sp) who led a rebellion against the Romans (scaring the pants off them BTW) after they absconded her husband’s lands after he died, beat her and raped her two daughters. She was M.A.D. as you can imagine. I think the image of her liking the sword like she’s licking cum off (RR’s) ahem… weapon, is not only insulting to the fierce dignity of the character but tacky in the extreme, bottom of the barrel. I won’t be seeing this.
