Gene Simmons Supports The Canadian Troops
Gene Simmons was the Grand Marshal at the Edmonton Indy this weekend held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Even though he was super late to the race…at a press conference he mentioned the Canadian Troops fighting in Afghanistan. (My brother is off to Afghanistan next week and I am so nervous for him…knowing that people that aren’t in Canada thinking of our Troops means a lot.) Gene hasn’t made it a secret that he supports the troops that fight in the war. In his roast, that aired on A&E, he was crying because they presented him with an American flag that flew on a base. I was crying right along with him. To see such a man so passionate about something.
This is what he said at the press conference in Edmonton just for the Canadian Troops fighting in Afghanistan…
“Hi guys, it’s Gene Simmons. We know you’re in Afghanistan, we know it’s a tough one, I just want you to know from my heart we love you. I like the fact that there’s a bit of civility when the Canadian flag goes up and your national anthem is sung, everybody quietens down a bit. You don’t have to salute, no one’s forcing you to do anything, but just for a few minutes you shut your mouth and give it the respect it demands. I think that’s part of our lives that’s been tossed aside. Culture has become cynical and we don’t even respect what we should.”
Thank you Gene…now I know why you still rock!
