Samantha Ronson’s Harsh Review
Harsh, or justified? I personally can’t say I’ve ever heard any of Samantha Ronson’s mixes, and on her myspace page, she has more of her own recordings (the celebrity DJ was once a signed guitar-playing, song-writing crooner signed to Jay-Z’s Rocafella Records).
Could it actually be that she’s not really all that good? Other celebrity DJ’s like Steve Aoki (sister is Sin City actress & model Devon Aoki, father is the founder of BeniHana chain restaurants) and DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein, former fiance of Nicole Richie) gather unquestionable acclaim for their music, putting out mixtapes, albums, and promoting their own work regularly. Is it possible Ronson’s worthy of such a scathing review?

She’s like the friends with a bunch of records that you had come over when you had house parties in your parents’ basement. The more drunk or high you get, the better she sounds. When you book Samantha Ronson for a party, you’re not booking her because she’s a great DJ.” - Ian Drew, US Weekly
I can’t imagine why people would continue to book her……. hmmm..
