Brooke Shields in the Project Runway Jungle
On last night’s episode of Project Runway, the contestants were challenged to create a look for a high-powered and professional business woman. Weirdo Stella expressed her hope that it would be for Sharon Osbourne, since she’s a business woman… Riiiiight. Guest judge Brooke Shields was brought in and explained that the winning look would be worn on Lipstick Jungle by her character, Wendy- a Bohemian type business executive who is married to a musician. The garment had to be able to transition from a day in the office to a glamorous night on the town. Each contestant submitted their own design and Brooke chose 6 to move forward with and be team leaders. Of course, Stella drew up a leather corset, because that is so business-appropriate and all.
Some of the teams had serious issues (as they always do on team challenges). Keith wanted Kenley to “shut up and sew”, but seeing as how she is VERY opinionated and forthcoming with her thoughts, that didn’t work out so well. Luckily, the hideous floral pattern she picked never made it on the garment. Joe basically threw Korto under the bus to Tim, furthering my dislike and annoyance for him. Suede‘s sewing ability made Terri erupt into an angry rage, though Tim thought it was gorgeous so she then completely changed her tone. Daniel, the self-proclaimed high fashion designer with “impeccable taste” was incapable of rouching a skirt so Kelli made him rip it up and start over. Oddly enough, Jerrell and Stella got along fabulously because he let Stella have some leather and she just hammered away. Their garment won high praises from the judges for being a great blend of color and texture and being office-chic bohemian, but alas, they came in second place.
Keith and Kenley walked away with first place, but without immunity since his design will be worn on national television. Kelli’s design was deemed “slutty, slutty, slutty” by Michael Kors, and that was a very accurate description. Blayne and Leann‘s casual shorts outfit was more appropriate for a picnic than a day at the office or a night on the town, but at least Blayne “manned” up- if that’s at all possible since he is more feminine than I am- and took the fall for it. The judges criticized him for not listening to their advice and doing his own thing, but that critique is very reminiscent of Santino who made it to the runway show a couple years ago. In the end, Kelli’s poor taste and bad construction led to her demise as she was booted from the show. For the record, Daniel contributed nothing this week and has consistently been in the bottom because his “impeccable” taste SUCKS, but whatever.
