Family Matters on Shear Genius

For the Short Cut challenge on last night’s Shear Genius, the hair stylist to everyone on American Idol was the judge. Let’s keep in mind that this is the man responsible for Sanjaya‘s crazy ‘dos and pony-hawks. Yeh… So, the challenge was to create a new look for some little girls going into first grade for their first day of school. Dee came in last with some chopped up severe bangs, while Daniel brought home first prize for creating a mini-Jaclyn Smith, which is exactly what the girl wanted.

We also got a glimpse into some down-time the contestants had at the SG house, where they did a fashion show “honoring” the fallen contestants. Daniel hosted and the rest did hilarious impersonations of a crazy-eyed Meredith, fashionable Nekisa, arrogant and first-to-go Oshun, jewelry-wearing Matthew, and the “invisible woman”, Gail.

For the elimination challenge, some surprise visitors were brought in for the contestants to work on- their families! But in typical reality tv, shake-it-up fashion, they wouldn’t be working on their own family member, but that of another contestant. As Short Cut winner, Daniel got to choose who cut who’s hair. In the end, Nicole chopped Dee‘s mom’s hair way too short and Paulo did the exact same cut as always on Charlie‘s sister’s hair. Neither did what their client wanted and both looked rough. Paulo‘s looked like he stuck her head in a blender and chopped it all to pieces, so he finally went home. ‘Bout time.
