‘Wardrobe Malfunction’ Has Been Added To The Dictionary

‘Wardrobe Malfunction’ is one of many of the new words and expressions added to the Chambers English Dictionary. The other words added are: ‘comfort food’, ‘nail bars’ and ‘credit crunch’.

The phrase ‘wardrobe malfunction’ was deemed relevant enough to be included because it helps to “paint a vivid picture of current interests and concerns,” according to Chambers Editor Mary O’Neill.

It’s cool that pop culture has become so great that one mishap (staged or not) by Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake will be added to the dictionary. And our future generations can learn that these words were so important that they were added.
