Malaysia May Ban Avril Lavigne

But not for sucking so bad… which is probably why they SHOULD be banning her.  Nope, the Islamic opposition party in Malaysia says that Avril Lavigne‘s planned concert is “too sexy” for the Muslim country.

Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party official Kamarulzaman Mohamed said that Lavigne’s dance moves are

“considered too sexy for us. It’s not good for viewers in Malaysia. We don’t want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models.”

Now I don’t think there’s anything sexy about this girl at all, but I’ve never seen one of her concerts, and maybe she’s got a good choreographer?  Anyway, you kind of have to wonder about her judgment in trying to tour there.  Malaysia’s rules for foreign performers are very strict, and performers such as Christina Aguilera and Beyonce just don’t even try to get approved.   Gwen Stefani tried, and said it was a “sacrifice” to change her costumes to meet Malaysian regulations.  The Pussycat Dolls were stupid enough to go there, and they were fined $2,800 – which is nothing for them – but I wonder what kind of statement they, and Avril, are trying to make by doing a show where they’re just going to make people mad.

Avril’s folks, by the way, say there’s no inappropriate content in her show.
