‘Superman’ Reboot Coming

Apparently the execs over at Warner Brothers don’t like the way the last Superman film turned out. The box office numbers were weaker than they wanted. Now they want to restart the series with a darker feel.

“‘Superman’ didn’t quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to,” says Mr. Robinov. “It didn’t position the character the way he needed to be positioned.” “Had ‘Superman’ worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009,” he adds. “But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all.”

Like the recent Batman sequel — which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far — Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as “The Dark Knight.” Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.’ DC properties. “We’re going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it,” he says. That goes for the company’s Superman franchise as well.

Everything is a remake nowadays, where is the original work?

One possible strategy to satisfy everyone is to create a crossover in a different setting. Since all of the previous settings were on earth, a new setting would make it look like a reboot. The new setting could be deep space wherein superman tries to look for the planet Krypton but instead ends up in another planet with either braniac or darkseid and a revived general zod. They should include more action and many fight scenes with alien troopers and different military starships. In the end, he finally sees the remnants of the planet Krypton and makes his way back to earth. In this way, it could still pass as a prequel of superman returns. If this film becomes successful, they could now make sequels to superman returns. One sequel could be about superman’s death from the battle with doomsday. And in the end of this movie they could show the reign or rise of the supermen featuring steal, the cyborg, the eradicator, and superboy. Superboy could be superman’s son from superman returns, instead of a clone from star labs. This is where they could show the supermen as angry god versions of the original. I also think that Brandon Rought should still play superman’s role.

Im a die hard superman fan…and recently getting into the batman side….superman returns pissed me off beyond measures…it was bad acting, corny scripts and nearly 3 hours of wasted time and money…im excited that they finally decided to redue superman with a darker feel/darker look…thats exactly what he needs to his character….if you ever watch the animated movies on itunes and dvd…superman isnt afraid to fight to the bloods drawn, he does what he has to do to defeat his enemies while keeping his fight for truth and justice attitude…im so tired of them tryna chump down his character just because little kids…the real fans are the adults whos followed his character from the beginning…new update, darker script, darker cast, better storyline, better criminals…include darkseid, braniac, someone other then lex luthor..that is played out…
