Katy Perry to Perform “Like a Virgin” & More VMA Secrets!
Remember all the hype right before last year’s VMA’s? “Omg, Britney’s going to perform!”
Well, we know the rest of that train-wreck, and in a not-so-surprising move yesterday, MTV announced yes, Brit will be opening the show again this year, but sans-performance (even though by all accounts, she’s got her stuff together again).
Excitement has shifted this year around some other announced highlights though, notably the highest-charting female of the summer, Katy Perry covering Madonna’s “Like a Virgin”.
Also some exciting VMA news, Christina Aguilera will be taking the stage for the first time since giving birth to baby Max, performing a modernized version of her hit “Genie in a Bottle” in what’s shaping up to be some collaborative performance of past VMA highlights (also involving Lupe Fiasco and The Ting Tings).
Previously-announced performers have included: Rihanna and T.I. (who are slated to debut their latest collaboration “Live Your Life” (listen below), Kid Rock, Paramore, Lil’ Wayne (to be introduced by uber-fan Michael Phelps), and The Jonas Brothers (to be introduced by Joe Jonas‘ girlfriend Taylor Swift). Additionally, Kanye West is slated to close the show with an insane performance (borrowing from pieces of his “Glow in the Dark” tour?)
Presenters include: Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Ciara, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jamie Foxx, Chace Crawford, Ashlee Simpson, John Legend, Danity Kane, Kobe Bryant, Leona Lewis, Paris Hilton, Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Slash, Taylor Swift, and Shia LaBeouf.
