Rob Thomas Finishing New Album

Matchbox 20 may officially be a group of the ’90s, but Rob Thomas has been steaming ahead with a successful solo career since his collaboration with Carlos Santana (for “Smooth”) and his last album, 2005’s …Something to Be went platinum.  The new album, he says is “probably about 80% done” and aside from its pop feel, Thomas is also incorporating a wordly feel, utilizing South American and African percussionists.

Tentatively titled Cradle Songs, he describes the project as, “the usual mish-mosh of styles, but hopefully just holding true to a bunch of good songs.”

On the flipside of the Matchbox 20 spectrum, drummer Paul Doucette, will be a part of the project Milk the Bee the first album with his other band, the Break and Repair Method, on Tuesday.
