Barack Obama Cancels SNL Premiere Appearance
Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama has cancelled his scheduled appearance on tonight’s season premiere of Saturday Night Live.
His rep cited Hurricane Ike as the reason, telling the press today that “Obama didn’t feel like it was appropriate after the storm made landfall in Texas.” In fact, the whole show might be changed up, depending on the severity of the storm, which has been downgraded to tropical storm status.
“If it’s serious, it will change everything for us,” the show’s creator and producer Lorne Michaels told Politco on Friday. “The tone of the show will shift, and it would be inappropriate for the senator to do if it looks in any way like it’s going to be a tragedy.”
Tonight’s scheduled SNL host is Olympian Michael Phelps.

No worries. He can go on SNL after McCain/Palin wins the election.
I think the truth is, his handles realized that appearing would mark him as a lightweight and a celebrity and would not make him ‘look good’. The spin line they put out is much Unga Bunga.
