TMZ has learned Travis Barker has been burned from the waist down, but he is expected to survive the plane crash. DJ AM’s face was severely burned and is being tended to right now.
We’re also told the tragedy is all the worse because one of the passengers who died, Chris Baker, Travis’ assistant on “Meet the Barkers,” was married recently and has a new baby.

UPDATE 2:E! News has an update on the condition of Travis Barker and DJ AM’s condition from a friend.
According to the source, AM is “really, really badly burned” and confirms that “his face is very burned.” The source adds, “More than 50 percent of his body is burned and the worst is on his face.”
The friend also said that Travis was burned “mostly from the waist down.”
Both men are in critical but stable condition at the Joseph Still Burn Center in Augusta, Ga. E! News was told by the source that, as of this morning, DJ AM was being “kept in an incubator” as part of his treatment in order to maintain a sterile environment and prevent infections.
The source also said that AM was looking forward to coming home last night and, in fact, e-mailed a picture to a friend that showed him standing next to the Lear Jet right before the ill-fated takeoff. “He sent a picture being like, ‘Hey, I’m coming home on this ride.’”
UPDATE 3: TMZ has released the reason why they were flying in a private jet to begin with.
It all started some time yesterday, when Barker’s assistant, Chris Baker, told the guys that his wife was going into labor. Barker told him that he would do everything in his power to get Baker back to the hospital in time.
The quickest way back to Van Nuys was that Learjet. We’re told Barker usually won’t fly on private jets, but made an exception for what was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of Baker’s life.
Chris Baker was one of the people who died in the crash. This story keeps getting sadder and sadder. Our thoughts are again with everyone involved.
TMZ has since retracted the statement that Chris Baker’s wife was in labor.
