Kanye West Premieres “Love Lockdown” Vid on Ellen

One of the best things about being at home sick all day is that you have two fail-proof allies. Your couch, your blanket, and your Tivo.

Ok, that’s three, and yes, I easily could have backspaced and corrected my typ-o, but that would destroy some pretty good evidence that I’m just that sick. Or lazy. Nevermind.

Clicking through my “Now Playing” list, I remembered that Kanye West was scheduled to appear on Ellen today and while I expected a different side of the normally-ego-obscene rapper (considering the daytime queen’s main demographic isn’t… well… me), I was surprised at how toned down, artistic, humble, and downright shy West portrayed himself to be.

Dude really knows how to sell an album! Check out his premiere of the brilliant new video for the single “Love Lockdown” and yes, the quality probably could be better, but at only $1.99 on iTunes, beggars really can’t be choosers.

The video draws inspiration from Christian Bale’s role in American Psycho, tribal themes, and West’s publicized minimalistic design preferences (say that four times fast!)

The new album 808’s and Heartbreak drops November 25th.
