‘American Idol’ Runner-up David Archuletta Gets Signed by Management Firm

After 19 Management (the firm representing American Idol finalists) passed on David Archuletta, it’s now being reported that he has signed a management contract with Azoff Management.

The American Idol seventh-season runner-up will be co-managed by Azoff’s Jared Paul — who also currently works with Nick Lachey and The New Kids on the Block, among others – as well as Jeff Archuleta, his controversial father who managed him in his pre-Idol days, Entertainment Weeklyreported Tuesday evening.

Azoff Management also counts The Eagles, Christina Aguilera, Neil Diamond, and Morrissey among its musical clients, according to EW.

In addition to Archuleta, 19 Management has previously passed on former American Idol runner-ups Diana Degarmo, Bo Bice, and Katharine McPhee.  The firm did opt to initially sign runner-ups Justin Guarini, Clay Aiken and Blake Lewis, however it no longer manages any of them.

Despite signing with Azoff, Archuleta is still signed with 19 Recordings (19 Entertainment’s record label), according to EW. The label is currently overseeing the production of Archuleta’s first album, which will drop November 11.

At least his crazy dad isn’t in total control of his future. Personally, I think the kid’s got an amazing voice (for a 12 year old girl), but has no charisma or personality, and being a cheeseball can only get you so far.

Don’t worry about the charisma or personality. That will come will time. The hard part is the voice. Well, guess what, he’s got that in spades. The voice is what counts. He is one in a million when it comes to that. And “cheeseball”, what ever that means only shows how much you’ve underrated him! You wait and see, how successful he will be in 5 to 10 years.
