Ellen DeGeneres Urges Support For Same Sex Marriage
Ellen DeGeneres appears in a new ad urging Californians to vote no on Proposition 8. The ballot measure would eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in the State of California, a right that was granted via a State Supreme Court ruling this past May.
The ad is simple and heartfelt. Ellen says:
I got to do something this year that I never thought I’d never be able to do - I got married. It was the happiest day of my life! … I believe in fairness, I believe in compassion, I believe in equality for all people.
Ellen’s wedding to Portia de Rossi was beautiful! I don’t know whyanyone would want to take that away. I know lots of folks disagree with me, and I respect that. I just don’t happen to feel the same way. Bravo to Ellen for speaking her mind!
