Chevy Chase Slams Sarah Palin’s Performance On SNL
I thought that Sarah Palin did an amazing job on SNL this weekend. But Chevy Chase isn’t laughing.
“Quite frankly, it’s a big mistake to let her go on,” Chase [said]. “….Apparently she cannot improvise herself out of a paper bag!”
Sarah did two sketches on the show and boosted their ratings the highest they have been in fourteen years.
“On ‘Weekend Update,’ that was her big chance,” Chase said further criticizing Palin’s comedy chops. “Nothing. The management behind McCain’s campaign has been dumb. This has only helped accentuate the problem of his judgment in choosing, in such a cynical way, a candidate like Sarah Palin for vice president. I think the last thing that they would want right about now is to have the rest of America knowing all that… to have her be seen on ‘SNL,’ certainly never there. If anything, you just want her to be seen just from a distance.”
“I’m sure she’s very bright. But so is the Butterworth woman,” Chevy scoffed.
I have to say that I think Chevy is wrong. I think it has made her more popular. If she can make fun of herself, she must be cool, right? Do you think she made things worse or better?

I’m not a Palin fan, but I was far more disappointed in Alec Baldwin’s “performance” in the opening sketch than anything Palin didn’t do.
