Jenny McCarthy Encouraged To Attack Denis Leary Over Autism Comments

jenny mccarthy

I knew it wouldn’t be long before Jenny McCarthy, whose son suffered from autism, had something to say about Denis Leary‘s negative comments about autistic kids.  And boy does she ever!   Us Weekly reported:

“Whoo! First of all, let me tell you, the autism community has received probably 10,000 emails [saying] ‘Go kill him!’ ‘Go yell at him.’  [But] it’s so hard to even get up enough juice in me or energy in me to even try to fight someone that is obviously stupid.

“This community has been through so much and to compare and use the word ‘dumb-ass lazy’ with autism, it’s just not fair. Mind you, I have not read his chapter that he has said he has been misunderstood,” she says. “So I can’t comment too much.”

I will admit that I haven’t read Denis’ book either, but I am sure that context would not make his words any less shocking or awful.  I don’t think anyone’s reactions will make him stop being such a douche, but maybe he’ll be a little embarrassed and think next time before making statements that he has no qualifications to make.

“I don’t think anyone’s reactions will make him stop being such a douche, but maybe he’ll be a little embarrassed and think next time before making statements that he has no qualifications to make.”

How is this any different than McCarthy’s unqualified assertion that vaccines and autism are somehow linked? Granted, Leary’s comments do come across as being harsh, but qualified doctors have found no link between autism and thimerosal, the preservative suspected of contributing, and you don’t call her our for making unqualified statements. This has contributed to an increased incidence of diseases that were previously held in check by proper vaccination.
