Bono’s New Gig: Newspaper Columnist
As though Bono doesn’t have enough stages on which to flap his jaw, he has now been offered the opportunity to become a columnist for the venerable New York Times. A spokesperson said:
“We have asked Bono to write an occasional column for the paper next year, covering a range of subjects, but are still finalizing the details.”
Bono would write six to ten pieces for the Op-Ed page, focusing on his “longtime pet causes” – Africa and global poverty.
If he were paid for the gig (and that’s not clear yet), the funds would be donated directly to his charity.
In my opinion, this is the newspaper version of stunt casting. Is the Times that desperate for readership?
