‘Twilight’ Proves Itself a Cultural Phenomenon

Living up to the hype,Twilightwooed a dreamy $69.6 million on approximately 6,000 screens at 3,419 locations, drawing more attendees thanInterview with a Vampire’s debut to claim the biggest vampire weekend on record. The opening for the $37 million book adaptation ranks as the fifth highest grossing of November, behind the threeHarry Potterreleases of the month andThe Incredibles.
In a single weekend,Twilightout-grossed Summit’s five previous releases combined, and the distributor/production company quickly announced that that the sequel,New Moon, is officially in the works.
This is just the beginning, all the book sequels will be released over the next few years. You can bet they will all have bigger budgets and hopefully better effects.
