You’ve probably already seen the FunnyorDie video “Prop 8 – The Musical.”� Even if you have, it’s worth another look.�� Written by Marc Shaiman (Hairspray), the video takes on last month’s successful ballot proposition that outlawed same-sex marriage in California.

The cast is impressive, but Shaiman admits it was a bit random.

“We filmed it on a Monday. If you couldn�t be there on Monday from 11-4, you couldn�t be in it,� Shaiman explained. �If we�d done it on Tuesday, it might have had a completely different cast.�

As for Shaiman’s part, he both enjoys and fears the publicity this video has generated.

�I�m scared…[1.3 million views in barely a day] feels good, until I read some of the angrier comments left by some very angry people. Then I think, well, maybe I shouldn�t leave the house. I�ll just stay on Funny or Die.�

As long as he continues making more videos, I’m cool with that.
