Last night’s title of The Hills episode “I Heidi, Take Thee Spencer” was a little deceiving, as were all of the previews and lead up to the finale.

Lauren and Lo go to a party hosted by Bolthouse that Heidi was working. Heidi approaches Lauren and they talk, very calmy, but it was pretty awkward there for a long time. To break the ice, Heidi asks Lauren if she’s been working out. Heidi goes on and on about how much she misses Lauren and how everything else is perfect in her life except the relationship with her. Lauren responds with “It is what it is. Life isn’t always fair.” They hug, Heidi cries about her mom being so upset with her elopement and they eventually part ways. It was a major moment. (At the after show, Lauren says there’s no hate, and no love there. Helpful?)

Justin Bobby takes Audrina on a weekend getaway to Palm Springs on his very high handle barred Harley. They share lots of schmoopy time together, expressing how much they mean to each other and how happy they are to have found each other. JB takes a diamond ring off of his pinky using his mouth, then hands it to Audrina. He says it’s just a symbol of his affection for her. Nice.

Heidi and Spencer go to the courthouse to legalize their marriage, despite Heidi’s mom’s visit and breakdown. Before entering, Heidi goes to the restroom to freshen up (er, cry) and Stephanie urges Spencer that this would be a huge mistake and Heidi would resent him forever. She tells him he has to wait until she is on better terms with her mom, but when Heidi returns he acts like everything’s normal and goes in for the ceremony. It begins, and Heidi repeats all her vows, looking very depressed about the whole thing. Spencer stops the ceremony when it gets to his part and tells Heidi that if she would rather wait til her mom is there and do the big white wedding, then that’s what they’ll do. She bursts into tears and thanks him, he apologizes for urging the courthouse wedding, and they walk out.

End of season 4. Wow… Lauren and Heidi make up. Audrina and Justin seem to be a legit couple. And Spencer shows that he is not possessed by the devil and gives Heidi what she really wants. This was a big finale!!!
