Report: MTV’s ‘The City’ is FAKE!

Please no!! Say it ain’t so!! Is Whitney Port getting the big job at Diane von Furstenburg just a shameless ploy for MTV to garner more ratings from The Hills spin-off? The City hasn’t even premiered yet (it does tonight and I am SO pumped), but it is already getting critical attention from sources close to Whitney.

One of the aspects that the show is reportedly over-embellishing is Port’s job at Diane von Furstenburg’s fashion design company — which is allegedly the entire reason that Port relocated to New York.  “She doesn’t really work. She is hardly ever in the office,”  a source told the Post of Port and her position at the fashion company.

The source also added that some of von Furstenburg’s other employees haven’t been able to do part of their work because of the new MTV show’s requirements that the staffers keep the office looking the same for continuity’s sake during re-shoots.  “[Other employees] can’t get their work done because MTV tells them they can’t move any thing at their work stations. They do so many re-shoots that everything has to look exactly the same every day,” the source told the Post.

This could just a be a batch of untrue rumors from people looking to make a buck… or it could be a really smart move by MTV to milk the ratings giant The Hills for all it’s worth. However, I find it really hard to believe that a prestigious company like DVF would allow stuff like this to happen that could discredit their work.

Who knows the truth… But what I do know is that I will be tuning in tonight and giving you all the major dish tomorrow!
