“Real Housewife” Vicki Gunvalson Answers the Tough Questions & Gives Juicy Answers
Vicki Gunvalson is easliy the most annoying and skin-crawl inducing housewife on The Real Housewives of Orange County. She has spent half the season berating the newer cast members and her husband (causing specualtion she may be leaving the show). She recently sat down for an in-depth interview about her experiences with the show, and we’ve got the highlights including her relationship with Don, with Gretchen, which housewives she misses, and whether she’s coming back for another season:
I want to give you the opportunity to set the record straight then. Go ahead and address the many misperceptions that viewers may have of you.
Much of the misperception is that I’m not compassionate or I’m not soft-hearted. I cry and I pray every day, and I do all of the things that make me whole. That’s not portrayed out there because maybe I didn’t expose it to the cameras. I am sensitive. I’m probably one of the most misunderstood people on TV. People just don’t understand me yet, and they’re never going to from only getting seven minutes of me a week. That’s the hard part. They don’t show me going to church every week. They don’t show me praying and reading my Bible every night. (Wow, really?!! She’s the least Christ-like person EVER) That’s personal. They don’t show me crying with my kids, saying, “Am I doing a good job as a mother?” and their saying, “Absolutely, Mom.” They don’t show all of that. They show me controlling them, being a screaming and woo-hooing person. And I’m not. I wake up every day and work out. I go to work and then I make dinner for my family. We have a great family, and this year we’ve lost some of that on TV.
Viewers will want to know how things are going with you and your husband, Donn.
Amazing. We just got back from Puerto Vallarta. We went into a tough�season�– and all marriages have a season — and I don’t think the show has been good for our marriage. But we actually sat down about a month ago and I said, “I really hurt Donn’s feelings.” I sent him flowers and cards, and told him how sorry I was and how I didn’t want to lose him as a husband. I love him. He accepted my apology and said that he hadn’t been the perfect husband either and maybe he wasn’t “filling the love tank.” But he said, “I love you more than anything and don’t want to divorce you. I don’t want you to divorce me. I want to live forever with you.” We made a conscious decision to be better toward each other. And it’s been amazing.

Also, we want to know: Are you friends with these ladies in real life? Or is that something that happens in front of the camera?
I’m not friends with Gretchen and Lynne. I just met them this year. I don’t know them at all. I don’t even have their phone numbers. In hindsight, I wish we would have been mixed with our friends; it would have been a lot easier. Tammy Knickerbocker was friends with Jeanna. And I was friends with Tammy, so we all blended a little easier. There was no catfighting and negativity. And now we bring in all these people that we don’t know, and it’s hard! It’s really hard. So, no, we’re not friends. I’m friends with Jeanna and Tamra, and that’s it. The other two, I have no desire to spend any time with. I only have 24 hours in a day, and I’m going to spend it with people I like.
What is with you and Gretchen this season? It appears you really have it out for her on-screen.
There is a lot that the viewers don’t know about Gretchen. Hopefully, the real truth will come out. But I base people not only on their actions, but on who they are as a person, morally and spiritually. (Does anyone else find this hilarious?!!!) I choose not to socialize with people that I have nothing in common with and people whose integrity I question. That’s all I’m going to say. Why spend time with people who you’re talking to only because of a TV show? There’s no point in it. I’ll do my deed regarding filming. But I’m not going to call her and say, “Let’s go out for a drink.” There’s no way.
Do you miss having the former housewives on the show?
Absolutely. I miss Lauri. I miss Tammy Knickerbocker a lot. I don’t miss Jo. Jo and I had nothing in common. She was, you know, my daughter’s age almost. But Tammy Knickerbocker works for me so I’m fortunate to see her every day. She was a great, quiet, solid friend. She’s not a party girl; she’s methodical and thinks before she talks. She’s not hurtful. Some of these other women are hurtful. Some of the things they say are just mean. I just don’t understand it, truly.
Well, that begs the question: Are you going to come back for another season if they ask you to?
Absolutely. It’s been a great experience. Until they kick me off, I will be back.
OK, I have to ask. Do you all sell your house at Lake Havasu by season’s end?
We didn’t. But we’ve got some new things in the works. See what I want to buy this time around.
Did you get your yacht?
You gotta wait. I have a new plan in store. Vicki’s always thinking!
And, finally, any last words for your fans?
You know, guys, don’t judge me. Love me. I’m a good person. I love to work hard. Work is not my identity, but it brings a lot of joy to my family. I hope you are gentle with me. I know this year has been a little tough for some of the viewers. I’m not who you always see on TV. Just be gentle with me. I’ll cry if you’re not!

I do believe that in real life ms gunvalson would be a prime candidate despite her age for a real no nonsese discipline spanking with a hairbrush on her ample bottom, bared of course.
I can’t believe Jeanna is leaving the show this season. Vicki should be the one leaving, she is an evil backstabber! She has even said negative things about Tamara who is supposed to be her “friend”. Vicki should be the one getting the boot and keep her miserable mother off the show. That woman was horrible on their trip to Italy. No wonder Vicki has issues with a mother like that.
I think Vickie and Tamra are very childish, jelous women. They judge judge judge constantly. Do they not see how ugly it makes them? Of all the many reality housewives these two are the worst!!!
They are insecure and miserable-yuk! And they both need to work on their own appearances to even come close to looking as good as the other women.
Vicki is mean and heartless. With friends like her who needs enemies? She will throw her husband a good friend-anyone under the bus so she looks good or the victim!
I wish she was the one to leave. She is boring fake, fat and needs to get her face sandblasted! Most of all she needs a reality check- nobody in the audiance can stand her. Her time has expired on this show. The viewers want nicer more interesting women. She and Tamara are trash and way too predictable!!

i think vickie is the most two-faced, insecure person on the show. i’ve never seen someone so emotionally needy; always having to hear from someone other than her ‘inner self’ that she’s pretty, smart, good mom, good wife, hard worker, etc…
she has personally offended me (a stay at home mom) with comments about being the ‘only one who works’ in such a martyr-ish way. she’s always rolling her eyes and trying to appear demure and sophisticated when she’s not being the center of attention. when she’s the center of it all she’s a loud mouth, bossy broad. over all, there’s not a single one of these women i would give the time of day to or spend a minute of my time. they are all superficial ding-a-ling’s. they must be getting a pile of cash from bravo, otherwise why stay on with this ridiculousness?

Vickie is a two-faced, mean, fat, ugly (she looks like Ms. Piggy…has anyone noticed the resemblance?), and needy person. She loves to belittle the other women and when they defend themselves Vickie can’t handle it. She always thinks she’s being picked on….hello vickie….do you watch the show????? you are the one who ALWAYS starts the drama….Stay out of other peoples business…..Why should you even care about Grechen & Slades relationship, Are you jealous????? You contradict yourself all the time…..You need to be kicked off the show…..we viewers have had enough of your crap…..You can’t keep up with the OC look anyway……you need to go on the “Biggest Loser” show instead…..and maybe even that new reality show about plastic surgery…..your face looks horrible….if I were you I’d want to get off the show

Is Vicki the real-life version of Ms. Piggy. Both are fat and both are annoying beyond belief.
Mrs. Gunvalson has more class in her little finger than all the other housewives combined.
