Michael Phelps Caught Smoking Pot, Ruins 2012 Olympic Dreams (Photos)

After his 8 gold medal triumph in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Michael Phelps partied like a champion and it was hard to resist all the attention he was getting. We have reported how much fun Phelps was having in Vegas but what we didn’t know was the real disaster happened when he visited his secret girlfriend at the time (November 2008), Jordan Matthews, at the University Of South Carolina in Columbia.

Sources told News Of The World, the 23 year-old swimmer and his girlfriend arrived at a house party unannounced and behaved like he owned the place.

Sources say: “He arrived with a group of girls hanging all over him. Jaws hit the floor when he walked in. You don’t get many celebrities in Columbia, so when Phelps comes to your party it’s a very big deal.

“He didn’t know many people so you’d think he’d be a little shy. But he was loud, obnoxious and slamming beers from the get-go. Every girl wanted a piece of him and every guy wanted to be his best buddy. He couldn’t get enough of all the attention.”

Phelps let go, got loose and drunk and reportedly quickly and easily accepted a glass bong someone offered him. Yeah, people usually use a glass bong to smoke some cannabis!!

Our source said: “You could tell Michael had smoked before. He grabbed the bong and a lighter and knew exactly what to do.

“He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits. Michael ended up getting a little paranoid, though, because before too long he looked like he was nervous and ran out of the place.”

Bad, bad Phelps!! He is an athlete, he should know better. These photos of Michael smoking weed can cost him a four-year ban and ruin his dream to add more gold medals to his 14 record in the 2012 Olympic Games.

NOTW claims they were approached and offered money to hide this picture forever as it could possibly completely ruin Phelps’ career. The US Olympics Committee, Phelps’ coach Bob Bowman and the World Anti-Doping Agency have all refused to comment.

It seems like Michael knew exactly what to do, since he was a real pro with that pipe, and when to do it – November is a calm time in the swimming calendar when athletes would not expect to get tested for drugs.

Phelps might not have been caught with drugs in his system but this will for sure pinch is credibility and his role model/hero status in the US. You just cannot do whatever you want when you are a professional athlete and earn millions with your image alone.

Update: Michael Phelps Apologizes For Being Young, Irresponsible & Smoking Pot!!

Seriously though, it’s just pot. Its not like he’s on crack or crystal meth. His Olympic future should be fine.

This is stupid. His actions harmed no one, and are no one’s business but his own.

Yeah it’s just pot and no, his actions didn’t harm anyone, but unfortunately he did something a little stupid and got caught. He has rules as an Olympian which he must follow. If his career is in jeopardy, it’s his fault alone.
