Jennifer Love Hewitt might be single now, but she has plenty to keep herself busy. Last night she began a new path in life, as a director!
Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewitt makes her directing debut in this episode with a script by Executive Producer P.K. Simonds (“Ghost Busted” and 6 others) and Co-Executive Produce Laurie McCarthy (“Pieces of You” and 6 others). Kenneth Mitchell returns as Sam Lucas along with Teri Polo (Meet the Parents, The West Wing) as Nikki Peck, a romantic rival of Melinda’s and April Grace (Magnolia, Joan of Arcadia) as The Watcher. Other guest stars include Emmy winner David Clennon (Dream On, The Agency) as Carl Sessick, a ghost who wrecks havoc, and Jessica Tuck (One Life to Live, Judging Amy).
Last night’s episode was GREAT, ‘Body of Water‘:
When dozens of dead and decomposing bodies are discovered in a local lake, Melinda must help discover how they got there and who they are. As she digs in to the case she discovers that an unscrupulous mortician, Carl Sessick, had told his clients he was cremating the remains of their loved ones, but instead had disposed of them in the lake after his mortuary business had become unprofitable. Melinda convinces Carl, who is on his deathbed, to come clean and give her the names of the bodies he had dumped, and assures him that once he dies all will be forgiven in the light. After giving Melinda his files Carl does die, but instead of finding forgiveness he is approached by “the Watcher” ghosts, who tell him he needs to spend time earthbound helping the living as penance for his misdeeds. Melinda helps Carl start down that path by contacting the many relatives of the lake ghosts, helping them to say goodbye again in a group ceremony. Throughout this entire ordeal, Melinda must also fend off Sam’s ex-girlfriend, Nikki, who has renewed her affection for Sam.
Good for Jennifer. She doesn’t need a man to keep her happy. The right guy will come along some day. And until then, she has her growing success to keep her warm at night.
