Brandon Routh from Superman Returns has joined the cast of the upcoming film�Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.�Here are some details about the film.�

“Pilgrim” centers on young slacker Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), who meets the woman of his dreams (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) but finds he can win her heart only by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends.

Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”) plays the third evil boyfriend, Todd Ingram, a rocker with vegan psychic powers.

Mae Whitman (“Tinker Bell,” “Avatar: The Last Airbender”) is Roxy Richter, the fourth ex, a female who is half-ninja.�

Satya Bhabha plays an ex-boyfriend who can summon demon hipster girls at will.

Brie Larson (“United States of Tara”) plays Pilgrim’s ex-girlfriend, Envy Adams, for whom he still has feelings.�

Mark Webber (“The Hottest State,” “Broken Flowers”) is Stephen Stills – the lead singer of Pilgrim’s rock band.�

Alison Pill (“Milk,” “The Book of Daniel”) is the band’s drummer while Johnny Simmons (“Evan Almighty,” “The Spirit”) is Young Neil, the band’s biggest fan.

Finally Anna Kendrick (“Twilight,” “Rocket Science”) is Pilgrim’s sister.

Sounds pretty offbeat and possibly quite entertaining.

News about casting and shooting schedule have come down the line for the upcoming Spider-Man 4.�J.K. Simmons will return as The Daily Bugle publisher.�

The fourth film in the blockbuster �Spider-Man� franchise will begin shooting in 2010, actor J.K. Simmons told MTV News at Sundance, revealing that he�ll continue in the role of�Daily Buglepublisher J. Jonah Jameson. �I saw Sam [Raimi] at his Christmas party.�

The news appears to confirm earlier�reports�that Sony was looking towards a May 2011 release.

Both�Sam Raimi�and Tobey Mcguire are expected to return, but have yet to formally commit. Kirsten Dunst is also up in the air, although the actress hasvoiced her willingness�to continue as Peter Parker�s love interest.

I was honestly expecting a little faster movement towards this sequel. Hopefully they are taking the time to make the script worth it.�

Cher and�Johnny Knoxville��are set to star in the upcoming film�The Drop-Out.

The Hollywood Reporter�says the project tracks the fortunes of a 35-year-old career college student (Knoxville) who is finally kicked out of his parents house. Desperate, he decides to get in good with the 62-year-old woman next door (Cher), so he can keep his food, couch and TV regimen intact. In the mix is the woman’s ne’er-do-well son, who is looking for a father figure, even if it’s a guy his own age.

Sounds like an odd combination and an odd story, maybe that will work well for the film. Time will tell.�

I am Canadian. And I have to say that I watched the Inauguration like many other billions of people all over the world. I didn’t take my eyes off the screen watching as history was making itself right in front of my eyes. When I saw President Barack Obama walking down the hallway I got shivers, when I saw him walking down the blue stairs I cried. I know that this is the best thing that could happen to the States (and the world). And knowing that change is coming is a great feeling, don’t you agree?

It started with the swearing in of Barack Obama him with his right hand on Abraham Lincoln‘s Bible saying these words…

“I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear that I will execute the office President of the United States faithfully.”

And then came his speech, the first speech that the first African-American President ever made. It was full of hope and was awe-inspiring and again it made me shiver and cry. These are good times coming. It’s great that the world will be able to come along on the ride.

Soon we may very well see a sequel to the hit movie, Get Smart starring Steve Carell and Dwayne Johnson. Or even Shazam!

Talking about “Get Smart”: Is Agent 23 (Dwayne’s character in the movie) really dead?

Johnson: [laughs] er… actually… no. If there’s a “Get Smart 2″, there’s a great possibility that Agent 23 would come back.�

And talking about another project with Peter Segal, how’s “Shazam!” doing?

Johnson: It’s doing good. We’re just waiting for the draft to come in. I’m not too sure where that is right now. [because] I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with Pete about that in some time in a couple of months. You know, that’s the character that I loved the idea of playing, not necessarily Shazam!, but Black Adam. I was very excited about that.�Much like a lot of material in Hollywood, it will go round and round and I’m sure it will find its way back to us. And I’m sure one day if it all fits perfectly, then we’ll do.

Dwayne isn’t really going for the oscar performances in his career, but you I must admit he’s a pretty funny guy.�

Again violence in the movie theater breaks out, this time coming from the theater security guard in�Valley Stream, N.Y.�

Police said the security guard, Ricardo Singh, 24, was directing patrons to exit the theater after a showing of “My Bloody Valentine in 3D” when he got into an argument with a 16-year-old who wanted to wait inside for his ride.

The argument escalated into pushing and shoving and Singh allegedly took out a folding knife and stabbed the teenager in the stomach, police said.

The victim was taken to Winthrop University Hospital where he received six stitches to close the wound. The security guard was arrested and charged with assault.

Why so much violence? Is today’s youth becoming more�desensitized by movies like My Bloody Valentine 3D? What do you think?

Fans of the short lived show Veronica Mars starring Kristen Bell�will probably be seeing a feature film with the original cast.�

The show creator Rob Thomas confirmed that he�s even�working�on the adaptation now. And he says the stars of the show are on board as well.�

Thomas told IFMagazine, “My writing the movie is half the battle. Someone else has to pay for it. Joel�Silver�does have a certain pile of money. He called on me saying ‘Can we do this now?’ Kristen wants to do it. Joel wants to do it and I want to do it. For me, that�s the next project.”�

He�s got the right idea! Have someone else foot the bill! But Rob won�t be giving away any plot details just yet. He says, “I�m feeling like I�m on the right track now. But I don�t want to give that away yet. I know we did that F.B.I. ‘what if’ thing, but we would not go to that place. I think it would open just days before the Hearst College Graduation. So Veronica would be sort of at the end of her college career.”

I’ve never seen the show myself, but I have had a few people recommend it. Kristen Bell has already proven her feature film acting skills in Forgetting Sara Marshall�so this shouldn’t be too much of a stretch, although this show doesn’t have anywhere near the following of a show like Sex and the City.

Paris Hilton is in the latest Heat Magazine, it’s British and amazing! She has this really silly picture inside of her hair touching the ground and I’m thinking she looks better with that short hair she has now! She says in the magazine that she’s not an airhead and she just comes off looking like that…

What’s with the beauty pageant girls and their seedy backrounds?� I swear, those queens are always getting caught, busted, or nailed for something.� Isn’t the process they go through to reach the “Miss” whatever enough to weed out the “bad” ones?� Kelli McCarty is no different, maybe even a little worse than the others:

The former Miss USA 1991 — yeah, she was a frickin’ beauty queen — has quit the mainstream acting biz for a shot at a career in “adult entertainment.”

McCarty, who played maniacal Beth Wallace on “Passions” for seven years, is now a “Vivid Entertainment” girl — and has just wrapped on her first XXX feature, “Faithless,” in which she plays the lead character to a very very supporting cast.

So, why the career move? Here’s the explanation — “I enjoy acting,and I really like sex … so this was the perfect opportunity to combine two of my passions.”

I watched Kelli on Passions back when it was a “hit” and I thought she was TERRIBLE.� I guess she is just desperate.� Soaps didn’t do it for her, neither did the Miss USA title.� So, why not porn??
