Run DMC Among 2009 Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

While it’s true a whole new generation knows Run DMC from MTV (via the hit shows Run’s House and the new Daddy’s Girls), and member Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell) was murdered in a 2002 Queens, NY shooting, the group has a whole new claim to be proud of as the list of inductees for the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame were announced today.

Other inductees include Metallica, along with Jeff Beck, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Bobby Womack and Wanda Jackson in the early-influences category, along with Bill Black, D. J. Fontana and Spooner Oldham as sidemen.

The ceremony is set to take place April 4th in Cleveland for the first time since 1997, and will be broadcast live on Fuse TV.

Anne Hathaway Wears Feathers And A Fringe

Anne Hathaway showed up to the National Board of Review awards gala at Cipriani in New York City on Wednesday night with her feathers and fringe dress by Chanel Haute Couture. I’m not sure about the dress at all. It looks all wrong for Anne. I like Anne wearing bright colors not something crazy like this. I know it is Chanel but it’s not for her.

Anne recently expressed her dislike for Rick Warren saying the prayer at Barack Obama‘s inauguration on Tuesday.

“I am against it. My older brother is gay, and so its a family issue for me. My father is coming with me to the Inauguration. At first we discussed not going, and then we thought we’d just turn our backs when he [Warren] speaks. But we didn’t want to be disrespectful. So we’re going to wear ribbons protesting his appearance.”

Anne is always the gutsy one isn’t she? I think that Obama will bring some good things to this world. Sometimes we have to just roll with the punches.

Brendan Fraser At The Inkheart Book Signing

Brendan Fraser attending a book signing for Inkheart at Borders Columbus Circle in New York City yesterday. When I was working on this story I couldn’t believe this was actually Brendan in these pictures. He looks so different from the Brendan I had a crush on years ago.

He is starring in the movie Inkheart (based on the book by Cornelia Funke) that hits theaters on January 23. I once thought it had the potential to be as big as Twilight. I even have Inkheart next on my list of series to read. But it looks like it probably won’t even gross half that movie did. I hope it’s not because of Brendan being in it.

Whitney Houston Headlining Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy 2009 Party!

Whitney Houston has been confirmed to headling/open music mogul Clive Davis’ annual Pre-Grammy Awards party this year on February 6th; and is said to sample five tracks from her upcoming comeback album. Exciting!

We’ve been hearing about (and hoping for) a new album for a long time, and it looks like the project’s finally seeing a March 2009 release date!

Paris Hilton And Her New Short Hair: Hot Or Not?

Paris Hilton showed off her new short hair cut last night at the Apple Lounge in Hollywood. I really have to say that it looks horrible on her. There is something about her that doesn’t look the same anyways. Her arms look way to skinny and her hands look huge. And her face seems full of sharp edges. I hope that Paris invests in her own extensions soon! Because I don’t think this cut suits her.

Kate Winslet Does InStyle Magazine

Kate Winslet is fresh off her winning streak at the Golden Globes on Sunday night and straight into the pages of the February 2009 issue of InStyle magazine. I love that Kate won, and for two different movies too. When she was saying her acceptance speech and told the people that she wouldn’t be wrapping it up anytime soon. She deserved the time to thank everyone.

Here are some highlights of the interview in the magazine:

On not wanting plastic surgery: Im a normal human being. I dont have any desire to change my body as a result of having had two kids. Thats a good thing, isnt it? (Oprah told Kate earlier this week: God bless your real breasts.

On how Hollywood has changed these past few years: There is so much access to celebrity that its become harder to hold on to any mystery as an actress. The audience can have a fixed idea of you in their head.

On not wanting to be referred to as a movie star: I dont feel like [one] in my life at all, and I dont particularly think I behave like one. I dont have my own plane. I dont have a chef of a trainer. To me, youre a movie star only during the time when youre at the Academy Awards or at an important glamorous event. Its very much a had that you wear, and as soon as the events over, that hat comes off. Im back to being me and being Mommy, and thats my priority.

On not having a natural impulse to pamper herself: Literally, the one maybe celeb-y thing I do is the occasional facial. That is the only indulgent thing, where I just lie there and relax for an hour. You cant answer the phone. You cant get up and make soup. Youve just got to lie there and have somebody make you feel nice.

YouTube Muting Videos With Unauthorized Music On Them

One of my favorite parts of going to YouTube is seeing the fan video’s. It’s amazing how they make the video and music blend in together. But as of now YouTube is starting to mute anything that has unauthorized copyrighted music attached to it. So now you can go to a page and see like what is in the above picture…

This video contains an audio track that has not been authorised by all copyright holders. The audio has been disabled.

Here is another example of it on YouTube itself. So now exactly how much of YouTube is going to be affected by this? Probably millions of videos, spoofs and remixes…gone! I guess it won’t be such a cool place to hang out when all the music is gone. What’s next? Blanking out the video so we can only hear the music? Things are getting crazy there.

Sam Jackson is No Longer Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson has apparently been stripped of his further involvement with Marvel as the character Nick Fury.

Samuel L. Jackson, clearly bristling, said today that negotiations to put him in the role ofNick Furyhave broken down because “there seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world.”

Jacksontold me today that despite his cameo as the hard-bitten military man at the end of “Iron Man,” it now appears that “somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won’t be in it” when it comes to “Iron Man 2,” “TheFirst Avenger: Captain America” and “The Avengers,” the announced slate of Marvel Studios projects through 2011 that might have a natural spot for the character.

Samuel L. Jackson was perfect as this character for the brief post credits scene he has with Robert Downey Jr. at the end of Iron Man. It’s sad that Marvel keeps messing with the good casting so much.

Emily Blunt to Play Black Widow in ‘Iron Man 2′

Emily Blunt is in the running to play Black Widow in the upcoming Iron Man 2.

Emily Blunt has emerged as the frontrunner to play the role of Natasha Romanoff in the “Iron Man” sequel. She’s a Soviet super spy who doubles as Black Widow, a beauty in a skintight black costume that is enhanced by high-tech weaponry.

Blunt, whose recent credits include “The Devil Wears Prada,” “The Jane Austen Book Club” and “Charlie Wilson’s War,” will get a profile boost when she stars with Benicio Del Toro in the Joe Johnston-directed “The Wolf Man” for Universal.

She’s seems like she’d be the perfect choice, we know she’s got to skills as an actress. Hopefully Favreau decides on her.

Johnny Depp Starting ‘Rum Diary’

Johnny Depp will soon be taking on the role of Paul Kemp in an adaptation ofHunter S. Thompson‘s The Rum Diary.

Depp will play Paul Kemp, a freelance journalist writing for a rundown newspaper in 1950s Puerto Rico and surrounded by a bunch of lost souls bent on self-destruction.

The announcement lists a March 2009 start of shooting date.

I’ve never read the book but now that Johnny Depp is playing the role in a movie I’m sure I won’t need to.
