Michael Phelps Apologizes For Being Young, Irresponsible & Smoking Pot!!
After a compromising photo of the Olympic swimmer smoking pot appeared yesterday on a British tabloid, Michael Phelps was forced to release a statement admitting his mistake.
Phelps said: “I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”
Thats very honorable of Phelps to recognize his mistakes and apologize for letting his fans down. Michael is really young and we all have made mistakes in our lives! Michael is a national hero and he cant just be normally young and irresponsible like everyone else. Lets hope he can get past this and just focus on the Olympic Games and bringing more gold medals to the US!

I was so shocked when I read this. Thank goodness he came right out with a statement. I hope he makes good on his promise to never do it again. He promised not to get caught with another DUI and he made good on that promise so there is hope. Michael Phelps is strong enough to put this behind him and get back to training.
Did someone forget to tell Michael he had to be God-like!
He is still a young man and will make young man mistakes. For goodness sakes our current president admitted he smoked dope in his early years. Not to say this makes it right but I would think we should be more upset with our president than a young Olympic Athlete!!!
I teach second grade and my students (7 and 8 year olds) came to ME asking ME about what he did… I’m his age, that’s not an excuse. If he is that stupid, and yes I mean STUPID, enough to smoke pot and be so Ambivalent about it, then I guess his little slap on the wrist is OKAY… Meanwhile, he is a role model. And with role model status comes responsibility. If he wants to smoke pot, then he needs more discreet about it. I can’t even begin to explain how difficult it is to tell an 8 year old that “Michael made a poor choice and we know much better than he does about the dangers of drugs, blah blah”… I want to THANK Michael for putting me in that awkward position at work with my inspiring young learners. They are very sad about it, for he is (was) a hero in their eyes. I guess society doesn’t take into account for our future generations anymore. I thank Michael for sending the message to young children that smoking pot is perfectly okay, when we are trying so hard to send them the exact opposite message. It’s very helpful and makes our jobs so much easier. I hope you win 100 gold medals in 2012, I will make sure I cheer you on every step of the way. He’ll have more money than I will ever see in my entire lifetime – meanwhile my job is more fullfilling and it’s people like “me” who will make the difference in the end. Instead of wasting your money on Drugs, Phelps, why don’t you donate school supplies to my classroom instead. Naww, getting high is much more effective. What a dork!
“Oh really.” I would have to agree with Seth Myers from SNL. “If you see Michael Phelps at a college party and decide to take a picture of him and sell it to a tabloid, YOU ARE A DICK!!!!” The End.
I am a 55yer. old man from Hellskitchen N.Y. IF all the pot head{And theres millions} boycott kelloggs by not munching on there product until Mike is back Ill bet might reconcider things
the real JERK is the Photo seller!!!
I agree with Dave or Seth actually….That person who sold that photo is a huge dick!!!I can’t imagine how MP feels or what he wants to do to that person. I’m glad this story had died down some. People were seriously tripping out. It’s not like he took steroids or killed someone. He is young and do stuff that will that he will learn lessons from. You live and your learn. I fully support Mike and will continue to do so. As far as the sheriff from South Carolina, he just wants attention….he needs to stop for real…he’s out of control.
