DO YOU KNOW? Grammy Addition (Tuesday)

grammytriv

- Do you know which performer slated to hit the stage Sunday will be marking his first Grammy performance, despite having won so many trophies throughout his career?

- Do you know who won the first Grammy award for Best Rap Performance?

- Do you know who became the first and only artist stripped of their Grammy trophy when it was revealed it wasn’t actually them singing on their record? (This one is either going to be super obvious, or make me feel super…old)

- Which artist broke Carol King‘s record for most Grammys won by a female artist for her “Miseducated” album in 1999.

See if you guessed right after the jump!

- Paul McCartney will be performing for the very first time at a Grammy award show, despite having won 13 awards.

- As a part of DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, Will Smith was awarded the very first Grammy for Best Rap Performance in 1989.

- In 1989, Milli Vanilli became the first artists stripped of their Best New Artist win after it was proven they were simply lip-synching.  Their careers came to a screeching halt, and infamy followed them throughout their lives, culminating in the eventual suicide of one of the members.

- Lauryn Hill tied King’s record when her uber-sensational Miseducation of Lauryn Hill won five Grammys in one night.  Alicia Keys tied this record in 2002, as did Norah Jones in 2004.
