Samuel Bayer has been hired to direct the horror remake Nightmare on Elm Street.�

Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes and New Line have hired a director for the reboot of “Nightmare on Elm Street,” bringing on Samuel Bayer to direct the reimagining of the Wes Craven classic.

Bayer, for the uninitiated, is a sought-after director whose best-known work is in commercials and music videos; he’s won best director at MTV’s VMAs and is responsible for a host of iconic videos, including Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Blind Melon’s video for “No Rain,” featuring the famous girl in a bumblebee costume.

I can’t help but feel disgusted by this news, you know what they say, ‘if it aint broke, don’t fix it’. Unfortunately Michael Bay and his company don’t go by that policy.�

Rumors have surfaced on the possibility of the Wachowski Brothers doing a Superman Re-Boot trilogy.�

AICN�has posted the surprising rumor (but from an apparently reliable source) that “The Matrix” helmers the Wachowski Brothers have been approached to re-boot the “Superman” franchise as a trilogy.

The comment comes from regular Wachowski collaborator James McTeigue (“V for Vendetta,” “Ninja Assassin”) on a German TV show special on RTL1 that dealt with the films being released in the coming year.

The Matrix creators might be just the right ones to re-invent the Superman movie franchise. Hopefully they can give it a whole new edgy feel.�

Tara Reid is starting to look normal again. She looks like she is relaxed and healthy now. She just came back from a 60-day stay at Malibu’s Promises rehab center. The same place that Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears have turned to help to too. It could have been one of the most important decisions she has ever made.

�Rehab saved my life. Before, I used to think about tomorrow and I hated it. Now, I can�t wait because I am clean and sober and I am excited. I wanted a future, and that wasn�t going to happen with what I was doing before.�

In an exclusive interview with In Touch Weekly she talks about her feeling about being sober and rehab. Here are the highlights:

On what made her go to rehab: In November, I was in Israel at the Western Wall. You write a prayer on a paper and fold it up and put it in the wall. One of the things I wished for was health and happiness and something changed inside me. I realized partying is not what I am anymore.

On if drinking was a reason too: Yes. I never had a problem with drugs. When I go back to when my life went wrong, it all came back to alcohol. I wasn�t myself completely and I wasn�t happy. I numbed my feelings. It was no life to live.

On why she thought her drinking was an issue: Part of it was the image I had. When I went out, everyone always wanted to have a drink with me. Because I was known as this fun party girl, I became that person. I was doing shots with people, and I didn�t know when enough was enough. One drink is too many, and 1,000 aren�t enough.

On how bad it got: I have sleeping problems so I would drink to pass out and sleep. I was more of a night drinker.

On getting back to acting: Do you know how grateful I will be if I start acting again? It�ll mean so much to me. I�ll give it everything I have. I can�t wait!

Eva Longoria was on hand last night to celebrate Ken Paves‘ Salon opening of Eleven Spa Vegas in Las Vegas. Eva was glowing last night as she rocked the red carpet in a black mini dress. And if you are looking for some new real estate it looks like Eva and Tony Parker are selling their San Antonio home.

The five-bedroom, 5,500-square-foot Mediterranean-style house is listed for sale with an $895,777 asking price.� The home has 4.5 baths, a beautiful pool/Jacuzzi combo, and a basketball court.

I wish that I had more than one home that I could just sell like that. And if I could I would buy this one. It sounds like a dream!

What does a super-star think of as a perfect Valentine’s Day date? I always wonder what people with millions of dollars find satisfaction in, when they can pretty much have anything. American Idol winner Carrie Underwood recently described her ideal date. I hope her boyfriend, Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher, is listening!

�It�s nice to go out, occasionally, but it�s nice to stay in, too,� KBS radio reported Carrie Underwood as saying. �I�m more of a stay-in, probably, kind of girl and� I�ve never had a guy cook for me. So I think it�d be really awesome if the guy just kind of, you know, put a lot of thought into it� made the atmosphere nice. Maybe light some candles or make some decorations or something to sit around, and make me a good meal, a home-cooked meal.�

�I�m a vegetarian, too, so you�d know, it�d be like he went through some thought and looked up a recipe that he figured I would like, and you know� complete with dessert, of course. I need some chocolate or something sweet. But yeah, and maybe just take in a movie. Something simple, but thought-filled.�

With stuff like this, it really is the thought that counts. Of course luxurious stuff is nice, but if my man puts a lot of thought into a date or a gift, that just means so much more.

‘Dancing with the Stars‘ engaged couple Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy already have babies on the brain. Though they’ve only been dating since September, they have known each other since they were teenagers on the dancing circuit and got engaged on New Year’s Eve.

The pair joked with each other in an interview with People magazine�about the differences between boys and girls maturity development and the fact that when they were teenagers, they never noticed each other. �You know how boys tend to develop slower than girls?��Maksim Chmerkovskiy asked People. �A lot slower!��Karina Smirnoff chimed in. Back then, she adds, �I never looked at him seriously.�

It may not be long after their wedding this year before we see Katrina Smirnoff posing next to her new husband with a baby bump. The couple told People that they are looking toward their future as parents and the ever playful Maksim Chmerkovskiy said �Our kids would be rock stars.� He added, �They�re going to be like royalty.�

I don’t know if there kids will be rock stars, but they will be freakishly beautiful and have great rhythm!

The 36 semi-finalists of season eight of American Idol were revealed last night, and we have got some background info on them for you. You will notice that Joanna Pacitti isn’t included on this list- she was disqualified and replaced by Felicia Barton. Here’s the low down:

Alexis Grace, a 21-year-old from Memphis, TN. Grace has been singing since she was 7 years old. She was a member of the Concert Choir at the University of Memphis, and enjoys dancing, playing the guitar and taking care of her daughter.

Allison Iraheta, a 16-year-old from Los Angeles, CA who currently resides in Downey, CA. Iraheta is a junior in high school who began singing at age 5. She also enjoys playing the guitar.

Ann Marie Boskovich, a 22-year-old from Thousand Oaks, CA who currently resides in Nashville, TN. Currently pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter, Boskovich began singing before she could talk. She also plays guitar and piano.

Arianna Afsar, a 17-year-old from San Diego, CA. Afsar is a senior at Westview High School. She has been singing since she was 7 years old, and loves acting, dancing and playing piano.

Casey Carlson, a 20-year-old from Eden Prarie, MN who currently resides in Minneapolis, MN. Carlson is in her third year at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, majoring in Psychology. She began taking voice lessons in fifth grade.

Felicia Barton, a 26-year-old from Virginia Beach, VA. Barton lives in Virginia Beach, VA, with her husband and son. She began singing before she could talk, and her first public performance was at age 2.

Jackie Tohn, a 28-year-old from Oceanside, NY who currently lives in Silver Lake, CA. Tohn resides in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake. Clive Owen was seen leaving a private party at the Club Touch in New York last night. He has been busy promoting his new movie, The International, which comes out tomorrow (along with a bunch of other good movies), and decided he wanted some fun. He plays an Interpol agent taking on an evil banking conglomerate attempting to take over the world. So sexy and complicated!

Clive recently sat down with Parade magazine and told them all about being a sex symbol and the way his family treats him. Here are the highlights.

On thinking he’s not a sex symbol: Any actor who starts taking ‘sex symbol’ seriously or thinks of themselves as a sex symbol has got some serious problems. When I’m in my normal life I care very little about how I look. Sometimes I have to dress up when I’m making movies, but that’s not me when I’m just hanging around.

On not being a movie star at home: My family is hugely important to me and the most centering thing in my life. I go off and make movies, but there’s nothing better than going home and hanging with my girls. They completely boss me. I have no power in my house whatsoever. I am the geek of my household. I am so low-status in my house, you wouldn’t believe it, definitely not a movie star.

On what he would have done if he wasn’t an actor: I’ve only ever wanted to do this and I’ve never thought about doing anything else. The idea of doing anything else terrifies me. That’s a scary proposition. If anyone took acting away and said, ‘What could you do, what would you do?’ I’d be lost.

Clive seems like he is so down-to-earth and humble about who he is. That makes him even sexier I am sure.
