Shows up and down Broadway are closing daily, but that’s not stopping the producers of a new musical based on Spider-Man from moving forward with their plans.

Spider-Man:  Turn Off The Dark will be directed by Julie Taymor (of The Lion King fame).  The book was written by Glen Berger, and the music and lyrics?  None other than U-2‘s own Bono and The Edge.

The $40 million effort, reportedly the most expensive Broadway production ever, will make its debut in the Hilton Theatre, the only venue big enough to allow the superhero room to spin his way around the sprawling skyscraper sets while duking it out with various bad guys.

The show will open next February.  No cast information is yet available.

What.  The.  Heck.   U-2 and Spider-Man are not two great tastes that go great together!  One I love (Spider-Man), and one I cannot stand (U-2).   I actually think the idea of a comic book musical is insanely cool – but I can’t stop shaking my head at this one.

Michel Gondry, director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is set to direct The Green Hornet starring Seth Rogen.

Columbia has set Michel Gondry to direct “The Green Hornet,” and the studio has set a June 25, 2010, release date for the film.Seth Rogen plays the title character, and Stephen Chow will play his sidekick, Kato.

Rogen wrote the script with Evan Goldberg. Neal Moritz is producing through is Original Film banner.

Gondry, best known for far-out fare like “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “The Science of Sleep” and “Human Nature,” brings an unusual sensibility to what will be the most overtly commercial film of his career.

His incredibly colorful and obscure style is sure to add a lot to the film.

I admit I wasn’t really into this whole Watchmen phenomenon until I received my Entertainment Weekly magazine today in the mail and I got the cover with Jeffrey Dean Morgan on it. I have to say that I first fell for Jeffrey when he was on Supernatural. He was this rough and rugged type of guy. But I think he is smoother than his celebrity look-a-like Javier Bardem.

Jeffrey was recently interviewed about the movie and he said he didn’t realize how big this turning a comic book into a movie would be:

I mean I knew, I had kind of been on the internet and seen that it had this kind of rabid fan base that really cared about this project to the point where they hated us already for even attempting to make the movie. The day I think it kind of hit me, where I was like what the heck am I involved in, was when we were doing the Keene Riots. It was the most amazing set I’d ever seen, essentially it was the streets of New York, and there were probably a 150 taxicabs ripping through there. It was just this massive set and there I was jumping off of Archie into this crowd of like 500 hundred extras. Fires are burning seemingly out of control, and I’m thinking “I’m sure something’s going to go wrong, and I’m going to get incredibly hurt. Just the scale of it I think, it hit me that I was involved in something well beyond anything I’d ever done, and well beyond anything I’ll probably ever do again. I can’t imagine ever doing anything like this again.

Now I can’t wait to see him in this movie because I know he won’t be coming back to Supernatural. See the trailer for the movie here>>>

Courtney Love looks different in this photo shoot by photographer, Hedi Slimane. Hedi is releasing these set of pictures in a book called, Portrait of a Performer, which is available to buy on Amazon.I have to say though that this is a different side of Courtney, she doesn’t look all spaced out. But it could be the makeup that helps with that. The odd angles make this photo shoot amazing.

I think Courtney should give up on the whole singing thing and concentrate on modeling. I think she could actually make it as one.

Avril Lavigne has finally released some pictures from her new clothing line Abbey Dawn. I think that they totally remind me of Pete Wentz. She said that she would be very involved in the process of her clothes, and you can tell since these clothes look exactly like something that she would wear. The punk/rock thing reeks from these clothes.

Here is a picture of the Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus in a bikini.  It looks like their trip to Cabo San Lucas was really nice.  I am way jealous.  I need some beach time!   Miley and her mom Tish look great together.  I think Tish does a good job of being a “fun mom”.

This snap makes me wish summer would get here a little faster.  Well, at least spring!!  I am so over winter!!

Sir Charles is going to have a new wardrobe.  Well, temporarily at least.  Will it be orange or maybe even pink???  It looks like Charles Barkley is going to jail.  No, he didn’t get it that bad.  I still think he got the “star treatment”.  After getting arrested for a DUI and the BAC results, Barkley has to face the music.

Barkley just pled guilty to 2 counts of driving under the influence and pleaded “responsible” to running a stop sign for the December 31 incident in Scottsdale.

Barkley was sentenced to 10 days in jail — but will only do five if he completes an alcohol education program. Barkley was also fined $2,000.

Barkley will begin his sentence on March 21 — but it’s unclear if he will serve time in Arizona’s famed Tent City Jail, where they make the inmates wear pink.

As for the gun cops say they found in Barkley’s car on the night of the arrest — no charges were ever filed.

Octomom, Nadya Suleman continues to piss me off.  It’s  a good thing that I will never be in the same room as her.

It looks like she is losing her “home”.  The one she shares with her poor parents.  It’s actually her parents house.

The source says that the house is set to be auctioned off on March 5. The Whittier, Calif., residence is actually owned by Suleman’s mother, Angela, who has not paid the bungalow’s mortgage in 10 months. She owed more than $23,000 in back payments.

Suleman and her 14 children do not have a plan for where they will live once the house is gone, the source tells Us.

The source also confirms that Suleman made up the father’s name — David Solomon — on her children’s birth certificates.

The source also says the father is “definitely not” Dennis Beaudoin, the man went on Good Morning America Monday claiming he was the donor in question.

Suleman confirmed exclusively to Us on Sunday that Beaudoin was not the father of any of her children, despite having donated sperm for her in vitro fertilization.

His name is not David Solomon, the source says, adding that Suleman chose the name for its biblical reference and that she and the sperm donor signed an agreement before the birth of the children.

“It was signed a long time ago,” the source tells Us. “Only Nadya and the sperm donor know the exact details.”

Despite Suleman telling Dateline that she hopes the father would be involved in the parenting, the source maintains that she won’t reveal his name.

“She had just had all the babies [at the time of the interview],” the source says. “Her hormones were likely raging, but at this point, it doesn’t look like he will ever be involved.”

That’s just what these poor babies/kids need…NO father!!  Are you kidding me?  That whack job of a woman doesn’t have the time to love on all these kids herself.  She NEEDS a man in her life to be a parent along side her. That’s not going to happen though.  SO, I say remove the kids from the home and give tehma  chance at a real life. One where there is enough love to go around.

Everyone wants to know if the musical talent Vanessa Hudgens will be bringing ‘it’ to the Twilight sequel, New Moon.

Is “High School Musical” starlet Vanessa Hudgens already signed on to star as Leah Clearwater in the “Twilight sequel,” “New Moon?” At last night’s Oscars, “Extra’s” Mario Lopez cleared up the rumors when he caught up with Hudgens on the red carpet.

Hudgens declared, “It’s still a rumor. I’m really interested, I think it’s a great project but nothing’s happening as of now.” When asked if she’s a fan of the movie, Hudgens responded, “Yes love it. My sister has read all of the books, too.”

In my opinion, the answer is no.  If Vanessa were going to be in the movie, I am pretty sure she would have already been cast.  That’s a HUGE deal.  They are ready to start filming and I doubt that they would add a “bigger name” at this point.

Can you believe that November 20th will be here before you know it?!

I don’t think I have ever been more addicted to a show.  24 so intense.  I thrive on the nerves it gives me!  Last night’s episode was no exception.

Not even five minutes into Monday’s episode of 24, and we’ve got the identity of mole no. 2 — which, in another thoroughly unsurprising twist, is Agent Slimeball’s girlfriend, Erika (Ever Carradine). While the extent of her role isn’t made completely clear, when Slimeball confides that he’s got Larry’s phone tapped, it’s obvious she’s also playing for Dubaku’s team.

Interestingly, it appears that Dubaku’s love for Marika is the real deal — or, at least, he does a pretty good imitation of it when he seemingly convinces the confused young woman to leave the country with him. So either the butcher of Sengala actually has a heart or he has a good reason for wanting to take her along.
