Green Lantern is going more in the direction of Iron Man, not The Dark Knight.

…producer Donald De Line while out promoting his new movie I Love You, Man, and he says they’re planning to make Green Lanternsomething more in the mold of Iron Man. 

“I’d say it’s more akin to Iron Man, where there’s definitely serious stakes in the movie, but there’s definitely a sense of humor throughout,” De Line explained. He also pulled out the old “it’s all about the character” line in predicting all the different crap they may put Hal Jordan through in the movies. “I think it’s all about the character and what the theme is. You can do dark, you can go more comedic, and I think [the audience will] stay with you.’

I imagine a colorful superhero like Green Lantern would need to be darkened up a bit for the big screen, hopefully it doesn’t turn out cheesy.
