‘Twilight’ Sequel ‘Eclipse’ Not Being Directed by Drew Barrymore

dreamz04110630eclipse

There were rumors flying that Drew Barrymore was possibly going to direct the second Twilight sequel Eclipse. Today those rumors have been squashed as Paul Weitz has stepped in to helm the picture.

The Twilight fansite called Twilighters.org posted a statement on their site today saying, “Drew Barrymore will not be directing the third installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Series… Due to the ‘New Moon’ post-production schedule for director Chris Weitz, his brother and co-owner of Depth of Field Productions – Paul Weitz – will be directing ‘Eclipse.’”

I’m sure Drew is pretty unhappy with this decision. It would have been interesting to see what she can do as a director, given her lifelong experience.
